Flight Lieutenant Aman Singh Hans, a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force, took off with a MiG-29 twin-engine fighter jet for a long-range ferry mission for Exercise Gagan Shakti scheduled in April. Flight Lieutenant Hans was airborne for 20 minutes when, at 28,000 feet or 8.5 km from the ground, he experienced a sudden blast, the Head-Up Display (HUD), and "visual reference blanking off". At 28,000 feet, the atmospheric pressure is very low, the air is thin and Oxygen levels drop drastically. Temperature of - 40 degrees Celsius. The pilot realised the fighter jet's canopy was blown off at 28,000 feet. He descended to an altitude of 3 kilometres from 8 km when the canopy blew off and landed at the nearest airbase with no radio reception and severe pain in the eyes. For "displaying indomitable valour and exemplary gallantry beyond the call of duty" the Government of India has awarded him a Shaurya Chakra - the third highest peacetime gallantry award - on Republic Day this year. Former Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, who was a Squadron Leader in 1994, shared an incident when his MiG-29's "canopy flew off" at Mach 1.9 speed (almost two times the speed of sound). Delhi Police Foreigners Cell, North-West District, apprehended nine #Bangladeshi nationals from Wazirpur JJ Colony, residing illegally in India, following a sustained and meticulous surveillance operation. During the operation, one smartphone equipped with the banned IMO application was recovered from their possession. They had illegally crossed into India through the Cooch Behar border, West Bengal. Balochis are picked up by #Pakistani security forces, interrogated, tortured and then encountered. In continuation of alleged extrajudicial killings in #Balochistan, three previously missing persons were killed in what is being widely condemned as a staged encounter by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Barkhan. The CTD claimed to have conducted an operation in Tang Kiryar area of Barkhan district. The bodies of Abdul Rehman Buzdar, Fareed Buzdar, and Sultan Marri were subsequently shifted to the Basic Health Unit (BHU) hospital in Rakni. All three had reportedly been victims of enforced disappearance for several months. In a separate incident, another youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Awaran district after reportedly being summoned by security forces. Baloch rights activists assert that the encounter was fake and the men were executed after prolonged illegal detention. Similar cases in Dukki, Ziarat, and Quetta have been reported in recent months.
