Cole's The Fall Off: Mal compares the album to waiting years for sex with a girl you've been chasing, only for it to finally happen but be a bit "off" “it stinks a little, not terrible, still fire in spots, you'd still hit again (and give second chances), but it's underwhelming after the long wait and high anticipation” “J. Cole is still one of the greatest rappers ever, discography remains amazing, this doesn't change that. But personally underwhelmed for a project anticipated for almost 10 years”
