Throwback to 2005, when Ivory Coast qualified for the World Cup while the country was still in civil war and Didier Drogba used the moment to call for peace. His message didn’t single-handedly end the conflict but it helped build momentum toward a ceasefire. Football matters.

This video made me think about how FIFA created a Peace Prize just t award Trump but never honoured real ones such as Drogba…

Drogba will forever be iconic. His autobiography is outstanding too.

My goat

Why didnt this guy get the Nobel peace prize is witchcraft

Imagine FIFA created a Peace Prize for Trump but never honoured Drogba for this.

Its so screwed and corrupt. What Drogba did noone has done that ever. Even now they can still honor him for that. I hope in Ivory Coast they will build a memorial in his honor for his contribution towards peace. Even African Union should have done something big for him

The blue elephant. Chelsea legend. Great footballer, better person. Didier Drogba.

Didier Drogba is one of those rare footballers who deserve to be called heroes.

Respect ✊

as an arsenal fan he still haunts my nightmares but I've gotta tip my hat to him on this one.

One voice, one moment, one message and a nation listened

This is why he would forever be the greatest African footballer regardless of what anyone else says

Footballers that will always be remembered for their impact in people’s lives

@_AfricanUnion @AfricanUnionUN can we lobby for @didierdrogba to get Nobel peace award ,he ended conflict in Ivory Coast & brought peace

@_AfricanUnion @AfricanUnionUN @didierdrogba I second this

@_AfricanUnion @AfricanUnionUN @didierdrogba Our leaders are self centred ,they only give politicians

@africaupdates That was great

I pray the same for Haiti 🙏🏾

Sudanese players should do the same thing. @SFA1936 . They should use this medium

Drogba is not a football legend. He is a national legend 👏 👏

His Speech leading into ceasefire. IMAGINE! Thats why Drogba speech quality is on another level. Could save so many life. Should got football wall of fame.

he's so goated man

Drogba will always be a King.

DEADLY DROGBA!

Unrelated, I love hearing someone speak French

- In my #DRC 🇨🇩 unfortunately those who are fighting against DRC don’t even cheer for our national team the #Leopards - Chez nous en RDC 🇨🇩 malheureusement ceux qui nous font la guerre ne supportent meme pas notre equipe nationale #LeopardRDC .

See Arouna Kone. Players have come and gone.

Greatest African player to play in the primer league Drogba is Chelsea and Chelsea is Drogba @didierdrogba

But look at Nigeria nobody fit stand up like this

Powerful speech from @didierdrogba This video always makes me feel emotional. Africa must unite

@KyrieIrving @KyrieIrving this is so what you’re meant to do too ❣️❣️❣️ Shooting for you to be back by angel 1/11 and praying you are 💯 well long before then too ✝️

@Cristiano @TeamMessi only you two need to talk about the genocide in Gaza

This is the reason why he will always be my legend.

💪🏾🩷🩷🩷

Didier Didier ❤️❤️

Footballers, overall, still suck in politics.

And the rest they say is history.
