Tides require the sideways movement of water up to a quarter of the way around the planet which doesn't work for any enclosed body of water such as lakes, rivers (except near the ocean), pools (and glasses of water !!!). Being enclosed prevents the sideways movement of water. The Mediterranean Sea is not completely enclosed and so does have small tides. This is because of the restriction of flow of water from the Atlantic Ocean through the narrow Straits of Gibraltar.

Tides are caused by a small imbalance between the pull of the moons gravity over the earths surface and the centrifugal force caused by the earth circling the earth-moon centre of mass. That tiny imbalance accumulates over vast swathes of area, causing oceans to bulge.

if you tilt an ice cube tray side to side the water will flow over the tops of the compartments across the top of the tray. if a compartment isn't filled high enough it won't flow into other compartments. lakes are landlocked so there is nowhere for the water to flow.

gravity is a BS explanation, but the tides do align to the lunar cycle. In the UK the tides flood (rise) from north to south, and ebb (fall) back to the north. Not 'in-out', north and south. Local effects can be very dramatic around headlands and islands and timings can differ
