The Pirates haven’t won a Paul Skenes start in over a month and are currently trailing the Marlins 2-1… Skenes has seen a dip in his fastball velocity this season and nobody in Pittsburgh seems to notice he’s holding the baseball with a different set of muscles this year…. Here he is last June holding the baseball with his interossei muscles (left video) compared to his flexor digitorum superficialis today (right video)…. The interossei originate on the hand, the FDS originate on the humerus…. This is why his hand & wrist orientation is so different at the top of his motion as well as at his follow through….

Anthony Kim has been working with golf coach Matt Killen, who has previously worked with Justin Thomas and Tiger Woods, and the main issue affecting consistency last year was his alignment: “Yeah, since I've been back playing golf, my shoulders have been right, my feet have been further right. So, I'm just trying to see my target before I hit the shot. “I've had a few people help me with the setup of golf clubs, but I’m really not working too much on my golf swing, just working on my setup. And if I can get that squared away, I know I can hit a lot of good shots.” AK was practicing down the range before every round on the Asian Tour last year using alignment sticks and doing a little shimmy to get the feels right. The swing is clearly still as pure as it’s always been and sometimes, it just takes getting the basics right to take the game to a new level. Now he’s a winner again after 16 years 👊

Mesmerizing. 😍 Linn Grant is known for having one of the best golf swings on earth. First watch, you will focus on her club position in the backswing. But I’m kind of blown away by her left arm at top of swing. Its barely passed 90 degrees. Even with driver. Maybe I need to shorten my swing! I know so little about the golf swing lol.

The bigger the turn a player can make, the longer their “acceleration ramp,” giving them more time to apply force to the club before impact. One of the key physical capabilities we measure in rotational athletes is thoracic spine mobility, which we assess through our Seated Trunk Rotation Test. When he came to TPI, Aldrich tested as well as anyone on the PGA TOUR, demonstrating 65° of rotation to the right and 70° to the left. Our movement screen isn’t predictive of golf skill, but it does help us evaluate the key movement capabilities that underpin the golf swing. While it’s certainly not the only physical quality responsible for his prodigious speed, Aldrich’s exceptional range of motion allows him to make more than a 100° shoulder turn in his backswing, extending that ramp and giving him more time to accelerate the club.
