Optimus is designed to have a lot of intelligence and to have the same electromechanical dexterity, if not higher than a human. It's quite a big robot because it has to carry heavy objects for long periods of time and not overheat or exceed the power of its actuators. It's 5 11, so it's pretty tall and it's got a lot of intelligence. So it's going to be more expensive than a small robot that is not. The humanoid robot has probably a thousand times more uses and can do more complex things than a car. That doesn't mean the training scales by a thousand, but it's probably 10x. You can do this progressively. It doesn't mean Tesla is going to spend $500 billion on training compute. We obviously want to train Optimus to do enough tasks to match the output of Optimus robots. And obviously, the cost of training is dropping dramatically with time. I think long-term Optimus the potential to be north of $10 trillion in revenue. It's really bananas. You can obviously afford a lot of training compute in that situation. Yesterday, I passed by a subway entrance in Guangzhou and experienced a retail kiosk operated by a humanoid robot again, buying a bottle of water. The process was the same: select items on a screen, scan a QR code for mobile payment, and the humanoid robot retrieves the product. (However, it didn't interact with me at all.) I looked it up, and the wheeled humanoid robot is named S1, from AutoLife Robotics in Shenzhen. It uses omnidirectional wheels for movement and a lifting body. It's 1-1.6m tall, weighs 72kg, and has a 10-hour battery life. A single arm can carry 3-5kg. Furthermore, this humanoid robot is suitable for lightweight tasks in retail, convenience stores, supermarkets, and warehouse sorting.
