It's quite a big robot because it has to carry heavy objects for long periods of time and not overheat or exceed the power of its actuators. It's 5 11, so it's pretty tall and it's got a lot of intelligence. So it's going to be more expensive than a small robot that is not. Such a cool one! → Another great project at Carnegie Mellon University, where they have developed a robot that plants trees automatically using a three-step process—digging, placing seedlings, and tamping the soil. It uses AI and sensors to navigate and ensure successful planting. → Last but not least, at Penn State University they created a weed-removing robot. This robot detects and removes weeds in high-tunnel farms. It uses cameras to map weed locations and applies precise herbicide amounts. Qiji T1000 is being positioned for heavy-load field work: security patrols, emergency rescue, construction sites, industrial logistics. The reported terrain list is exactly where wheels struggle: snow, ice, steep slopes, mountain paths, broken ground. And the use cases are not cute. Carrying supplies on high-altitude patrol routes. Moving rescue gear into fire-risk zones. Hauling steel, cement, tools, and equipment where large vehicles can’t reach. Dax also says the system can run for 1-2 days with its high-voltage power setup. The key point is simple: This is not about making quadrupeds more entertaining. Yesterday, I passed by a subway entrance in Guangzhou and experienced a retail kiosk operated by a humanoid robot again, buying a bottle of water. The process was the same: select items on a screen, scan a QR code for mobile payment, and the humanoid robot retrieves the product. (However, it didn't interact with me at all.) I looked it up, and the wheeled humanoid robot is named S1, from AutoLife Robotics in Shenzhen. It uses omnidirectional wheels for movement and a lifting body. It's 1-1.6m tall, weighs 72kg, and has a 10-hour battery life. A single arm can carry 3-5kg. Furthermore, this humanoid robot is suitable for lightweight tasks in retail, convenience stores, supermarkets, and warehouse sorting.
