Kolkata, West Bengal: Petitioner in the Chingrighata Metro Project case, Upamanyu Bhattacharya says, “The Kolkata High Court had asked the government to take the necessary measures to ensure that the Orange Line of the Metro is completed. However, the TMC government took the matter to the Supreme Court. The apex court criticized the stance of the government and directed it to complete the work at the earliest. This has exposed the brazenness of the state government and the extent to which it went to stall the Metro project. Today, I am very happy that the new government has resolved the issue within fifteen days. No other government would have done this, and certainly not the TMC government. They have a history of not following court orders.”

Tonight at 8:30, the traffic block will be given at Chingrighata to complete the 366 metre stretch to expedite the construction of the Orange Line of Kolkata Metro, which was kept denied for 1.5 years by the then TMC Government. While our court case of Upamanyu Bhattacharya vs State of West Bengal completely exposed TMC’s refusal to work for the benefit of the common man of West Bengal, I sincerely thank the people of West Bengal for electing BJP. Make no mistake, if TMC had gotten reelected by mistake, they would have delayed it further and punished us as well as the people of West Bengal. TMC regime had a history of not following Court orders whether that was DA or Muslim reservation case. This line is finally getting constructed as BJP Government is expediting all such projects and for that, I thank our Government and Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari.

We have successfully bridged the 62-metre viaduct gap at Chingrighata – a critical link on Kolkata Metro’s Orange Line. TMC kept it stalled for years by refusing basic traffic diversion permissions. Even after the High Court and Supreme Court cleared the project, the work still never moved. The obstruction ended. With night traffic blockades over two successive weekends, the work is complete, and the busy crossing road reopened 3 hours ahead of schedule.

A Century on Track. The Orange Line is rising. Mumbai’s Metro Line-12 – Orange Line Extension, being built by MMRDA, achieved another major construction milestone with the successful launch of its 100th U-girder near Dombivli MIDC Metro Station on Shilphata Road. The 23.57-km fully elevated corridor with 19 stations will deliver seamless, eco-friendly connectivity between Kalyan, Dombivli, Taloja and the Navi Mumbai International Airport. With this milestone, the project enters a faster execution phase, paving the way for quicker, cleaner and eco-friendly mobility between Thane and Navi Mumbai, while driving transit-oriented development across the Kalyan–Taloja belt. Running parallel to the Kalyan–Shilphata–Taloja corridor and integrating with the MSRDC Flyover for 7 km, the alignment will feature several engineering marvels including 100-metre clear spans near Kolegaon, critical Railway and ROB crossings, and high-rise station construction at 21–23 metres. Seamless interchanges will link commuters to Metro Line-5 at Kalyan, Metro Line-14 at Hedutane, and Navi Mumbai Metro Line-1 at Amandoot, with direct FOB integration to Central Railway at Kalyan Junction. The Construction Work of the Metro Railway near Kaikhali on the VIP Road for the Airport-New Garia Orange Line Metro Route has been going on for quite some time now. Thousands, if not lakhs of vehicles ply on this road regularly. I have two questions for the Bidhannagar Police:- a) If the Construction Work is unsafe then why have your Traffic Department not made adequate arrangements earlier for the safety of the Public and allowed them to risk their lives by traveling on that 'dangerous' stretch of road? Public safety is not a matter of concern for you? b) Or, by asking to temporarily pause the Construction Work of the Metro Railway, you are trying to massage the ego of the CM, because when #Hirak_Rani travels everything should come to a halt? I welcome the direction given by the Hon’ble Justices Sanjay Karol and Sandeep Mehta of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, to the West Bengal Government, for immediately releasing 25% of the DA Arrears of the West Bengal Government Employees, pending till now. This is a huge victory for all the West Bengal Government Employees, who have been persistently fighting against the unreasonable and hard-hearted State Govt of WB for long, knocking on the doors of the Tribunals to the Hon'ble Supreme Court. The BJP affiliate 'Karmachari Parishad' (union of nationalist WB Govt Employees) led from the front in this legal battle. Congratulations to the Members and Officials for this sweet victory over the oppressive Mamata Government. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitudes to Senior Advocate Shri Paramjit Singh Patwalia, Eminent Lawyer Smt. Bansuri Swaraj and other esteemed Advocates who appeared for the WB State Government Employees, for their relentless efforts inside the Court room. Mamata Banerjee had asserted that "DA is not a Right". Today's Supreme direction establishes that DA indeed is a Right. I hope Mamata Banerjee would take the responsibility for denying the rights of Lakhs of State Govt Employees for years and tender her resignation.

I welcome the direction given by the Hon’ble Justices Sanjay Karol and Sandeep Mehta of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, to the West Bengal Government, for immediately releasing 25% of the DA Arrears of the West Bengal Government Employees, pending till now. This is a huge victory for all the West Bengal Government Employees, who have been persistently fighting against the unreasonable and hard-hearted State Govt of WB for long, knocking on the doors of the Tribunals to the Hon'ble Supreme Court. The BJP affiliate 'Karmachari Parishad' (union of nationalist WB Govt Employees) led from the front in this legal battle. Congratulations to the Members and Officials for this sweet victory over the oppressive Mamata Government. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitudes to Senior Advocate Shri Paramjit Singh Patwalia, Eminent Lawyer Smt. Bansuri Swaraj and other esteemed Advocates who appeared for the WB State Government Employees, for their relentless efforts inside the Court room. Mamata Banerjee had asserted that "DA is not a Right". Today's Supreme direction establishes that DA indeed is a Right. I hope Mamata Banerjee would take the responsibility for denying the rights of Lakhs of State Govt Employees for years and tender her resignation.

Congress government and ನಮ್ಮ ಮೆಟ್ರೋ want to increase metro fares due to the projected losses of Namma Metro, which are estimated to be around ₹600 crore by 2029-30. The delay in calling of the tenders for the Orange Line from JP Nagar to Kempapura showcases the neglect of the Siddaramaiah govt towards mass mobility. Within 100 days of PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s coming to power in 2024, DPR was approved. Yet, it took about 1.5 years for the state government to call for the civil work tenders. The inefficiency of BMRCL should not be a reason for increasing fares and burdening commuters. Instead of increasing fares again to compensate for losses, BMRCL should explore non-fare box revenue options and utilise its stations as per Transit Oriented Development plans.
