To nail Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy, Gary Oldman went to the source: Sid’s mum. She gave him a real piece of punk history: Sid’s own chain-and-padlock necklace, which Oldman wore throughout the shoot. Despite putting him on the map, Oldman hates this performance.

The chain and padlock were given to Sid Vicious by Chrissie Hynde. His mother gave him heroin and a syringe for his birthday when he was 15. Lovely woman.

Every punker loved this movie back in the day because there wasn't a lot of punk stuff in the media. Now it's more notable for the score and the idea that people need a real job that satisfies their artistic needs.

Sid wouldn't be the easiest person to understand, I'd imagine. Caricature maybe.

Sid and Nancy" marked Gary Oldman's screen debut. The film's level of perfection is staggering, permeating every single scene.

Courtney Love is such a goddamned insufferable self insert in this movie. She would have gotten her head smashed up against a wall by Sid at Nancy’s request. 🙄

The corrupt cop in "Leon The Professional" was way more punk than Sid Vicious.

I was today years old, when I learned that this was Gary Oldman...

why didnt they pick a better song

He was terrible in this and very overrated generally

Did she cook him a shot?

I think most actors, realistically would hate trying to portray a legendary artist in another field they have no clout in. Yet it's funny how many do it these days to bring it back, sure some have been great, yet not 1 has been anywhere near close, nor shall they ever be.

John Lydon hates it as well. I think it is fantastic

Well, Oldman is the Sid of movies.

Oldman is old school legend. Sid was stolen from Us.

Compared to the original, this was awful.

I was at school with Simon

The score to this film is amazing, especially PRAY FOR RAIN (the garbage scene) and other instrumental parts.

This is the first time I've seen Gary Goldman and become a fan! Incredible performance.
