When driving and you suddenly sight men in uniform and guns, either soldiers in Army camouflage, police, or paramilitary uniforms standing on the express in an isolated area, slow down from afar and scan the area for proper visibility. If the road is a two lane express, ensure both sides of the road where the uniform men are standing are not covered with bush. If the both sides of the road is covered with thick and over grown grass, please it is a red flag. Before soldiers, police, civil defence, immigration or customs set up checkpoints or road blocks in the middle of nowhere, they will properly clear the bushes on one side, or on both sides of the road where they intend to mount their road block. They will build makeshift shades or seats. They may build makeshift shelter and create a proper space for vehicles to park. Today, as I entered Telangana, I saw that at the same border which was closed by the government a long time ago, illegal extortion of ₹20 to ₹200 was being done from truck drivers in the name of excise. This is especially worrying at a time when the nation is still mourning the tragic loss of children in the recent Gweru bus fire. The condition of the vehicle also appeared questionable, with the tyres looking worn and potentially unsafe. Please share this so that the relevant authorities, parents, or the police can investigate and take appropriate action before a tragedy occurs. It seems the driver may be avoiding peak police patrol times by operating early in the morning and later in the evening. But the story in today’s New Vision about the road crash that killed anywhere between 25 and 30 primary‑school children seemed to imply that the responsible MDAs mounted a coordinated, unified response. In reality, no such unified response occurred. What we saw instead were isolated, uncoordinated appearances by individual ministers: - Hon. Muyingo, the Acting Minister of Education and Sports, announced a ban on school trips while standing at King David School. - Hon. Kasule Lumumba, the Minister of ICT, issued a government statement at the Uganda Media Centre. - Hon. Maganda, the Minister of State for Transport, later read a very brief statement. - Hon. Engola, the Minister of Disaster Preparedness, did not address the disaster at all. These were parallel statements, not a coordinated national response. And they all shared one thing in common: they were budget‑neutral. Not a single MDA proposed immediate funding for emergency support, nor did any propose future investment in substantive road‑safety measures. Are the Regina Police taking revenge on me? The Regina Police have blocked me — and Rebel News — on Twitter, or X as it's now called. That's not just petty. It's illegal. A government agency cannot ban a citizen from a public service simply because it doesn't like their reporting. I've taken that exact fight to court four times, against four different government bullies, and won all four. So why did they block me? I think I know. Two weeks ago, I went to Regina to cover a downtown mosque and its plan to blast the Muslim call to prayer over loudspeakers — loud enough to be heard for half a mile in every direction. And the strangest part wasn't the noise. It was the police. There's been no city hall debate. No public consultation. The Regina Police simply made the call, and then put out a tweet threatening to prosecute anyone who objects the wrong way for hate crimes. Police pre-announcing arrests over a house of worship's loudspeakers. That's how it works in Pakistan, not Saskatchewan. This is the same force that just fired its chief of police, Farooq Sheikh, for cause — no severance, which tells you how bad it was.
