I think the bad blood between Russia and Ukraine is so bad that if Ukraine was allowed to have nukes, Russia would nuke them before they ever got set up!!! Russ is not trust Ukraine at all or the EU … Russia would turn that country to glass

they were never Ukraine's nuclear weapons to give up, Ukraine signed the Alma-Ata Protocol in 1991, accepting that Russia was the legal sucessor state to the USSR and thus had to hand over it's nuclear weapons to Russia

You are the most corrupt country in Eastern Europe, if you had nukes you'd sell them to the highest bidder in a week. And even if you had the old soviet nukes, you didn't have everything else to target and launch them.

You didn't "give up your nuclear weapons". They were never yours. They belonged to government of the Soviet Union, and were just located in Ukraine. When that disolved these assets belonged to Russia. Every former Soviet state was in the same situation.

Those USSR nuclear weapons were never Ukraines to have, only to hold and when merely holding them was deemed to risky they were dismantled and removed. Ukraine could not use them without Soviet technicians arming and support.

We cannot tell any country to give up their territory. And this is what the Fidesz politicians said. Then I would like to ask them: What would you do if Russia attacked Hungary? Which Hungarian counties would you be willing to give up? Ukraine should receive security guarantees and territorial guarantees that can be observed and kept. Ukraine, under the Budapest Memorandum, gave up its nuclear arsenal for guarantees, but those guarantees were violated repeatedly by Russia."🔚 This is a good starting point. Today is the first anniversary of the liberation of Snake Island from the 🇷🇺 invaders. It is one of our major victories. Remember, last year, in the spring, no one expected from 🇺🇦 that we would be able to implement, in particular, this fundamental defense task – to provide security to Snake Island, and therefore to a significant part of the Black Sea water area. But our soldiers did it. 🇷🇺 terrorists needed Snake Island to destroy the entire south of our country, our beautiful Odesa and other cities. Our soldiers stopped them and drove them out of Snake Island. Ukraine and Ukrainians are much stronger than anyone thinks about us. Sometimes, stronger than we are used to thinking about ourselves. Thanks to all that our people manage to do in the confrontation with 🇷🇺 terrorists, we are revealing to the whole world and to ourselves a new 🇺🇦 strength – a real 🇺🇦 strength. The strength that we will never lose and that will always be a pillar of the security of the free world.

Security guarantees are what unite the vast majority—Europe, America, and all our global partners need a shared understanding of how to ensure that Putin can never deceive the world again, and that Russia can no longer bring death to other nations—from Ukraine and Europe to Syria, the Middle East, and Africa. Over the past 30 years, we have seen far too much destruction and loss, all caused by Russia—its army, its intelligence services, its mercenaries. The world needs real security guarantees. But the main thing is that today we have the opportunity to discuss everything – security guarantees, Ukraine’s future, and the prosperity plan. We are talking not only about security guarantees, but also about economic guarantees for Ukraine – to recover and rebuild. We all understand the challenges that lie ahead once the war ends, and we are discussing them among ourselves. Our army must be strong, and for us this is a key security guarantee. The guarantees must be strong and clear. We must not fear any future challenges. It is also important that European colleagues joined us for the third part of our negotiations.
