Today, Germany’s three remaining nuclear power stations will be shut down. Burning coal, which already accounts for ~30% of Germany's energy generation will now play a bigger role in the country's energy policy until more sustainable solutions are in place. Here's Elon's view:

That is incorrect. Nuclear power plays no role in Germany anyway and we are well on the path to renewable majority. That being said it was a huge mistake to turn away from nuclear in the 80ties and use coal, gas instead. But now that ship has sailed.

I'm German. When I was a child everything was run by coal. The air pollution was a terrible problem. It made people sick, which was the reason to use gas instead. Everything went well. Merkel and Putin had a good mutually honorable and solid deal going for years until the pipeline got blown up.
