Our negotiating team delivered a detailed report following their meetings in Switzerland. In particular, we discussed aspects that could not be addressed over the phone. I’m grateful to the team for their precise work within the directives, and also for their patience in all conversations with the Russian side – which have not always been easy or reasonable. However, Ukraine is ready for a meeting at any moment, in a format that can help and that will be realistic in terms of ending the war. The team reported on the plans of the Russian side, as far as it is known to us, primarily thanks to our intelligence services. I instructed the team to once again communicate with the American negotiators in order, first, to reiterate our readiness for strategic joint work for security and, in particular, protection against strike drones, and second, to once again confirm our readiness to work substantively toward ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. We see that the Russians are now trying to manipulate the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region in favor of their aggression, and also to effectively turn the Iranian regime’s strikes against its neighbors and American bases into a second front of Russia’s war against Ukraine and, more broadly, against the entire West. This must not be allowed. Evil must not be given opportunities for coordination, but the protection of life must be clearly coordinated. This is exactly what we are working for. Russia is carrying out hundreds of strikes against Ukrainian cities and communities, attacking our civilian infrastructure every day. Today, at the meeting with the military and Ukraine’s Defense Minister we discussed the upcoming visit of General Kellogg – negotiations on further support will take place during the week. I instructed Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi and the Chief of the General Staff to present the information we have on Russia’s capabilities and our prospects. We are also preparing meetings between President Trump’s special envoy and the heads of the Security Service of Ukraine and our intelligence agencies. The information provided will be comprehensive. We count on the United States fully understanding what can be done to compel Russia to peace.

This is Russia's war, Russia's aggression, and it is Russia that must agree to a ceasefire and engage in real diplomacy that can guarantee peace. I met with the national security advisors of the Coalition of the Willing member states. Today, three panels were held involving Ukraine’s negotiating team and 18 participants from various countries and institutions. The primary focus was on security guarantees, rebuilding, and a basic framework for a real peace. During our meeting, we discussed all existing draft documents and examined in detail the sequencing of steps: on January 5, a meeting of chiefs of the general staff will take place, followed by a leaders-level meeting in Paris on January 6. After these contacts, we expect a productive joint meeting with representatives of the United States. Now we have a new wave, a new chance to finish this war. And we are thankful that on the diplomatic path, we are also not alone. I thank our partner states and their leaders for their consistent support for our country.
