There will be a briefing from Secretary Umerov and our negotiating team on their contacts that have already taken place. General Hnatov and representatives of Ukraine’s defense and security sector will be working on the details of security guarantees for Ukraine, for Ukrainians. At the same time, Ukrainian government officials continue discussions with the United States and Europe on the real recovery and real development of Ukraine after the war. Most importantly, I will be meeting with envoys of President Trump, and there will also be meetings with our European partners, with many leaders, concerning the foundation of peace – a political agreement to end the war. The chance is considerable at this moment, and it matters for our every city, for our every Ukrainian community. We are working to ensure that peace for Ukraine is dignified, and to secure a guarantee – a guarantee, above all, that Russia will not return to Ukraine for a third invasion. We’re preparing meetings in the United States – after the American team returns from Moscow and following the relevant consultations in Washington – Rustem Umerov, Andrii Hnatov, along with the rest of the negotiating team, will continue discussions with envoys of President Trump. We expect news in the coming days regarding such meetings, contacts, and talks – whether in person or by phone. All partners are in regular contact with each other and with Ukraine. Everything is now proceeding quite effectively – at meetings in Geneva and Florida, Ukraine was heard, and Ukraine was listened to. And that matters. We expect it will continue exactly this way. A dignified peace is only possible if Ukraine’s interests are taken into account. Our negotiating team delivered a detailed report following their meetings in Switzerland. In particular, we discussed aspects that could not be addressed over the phone. I’m grateful to the team for their precise work within the directives, and also for their patience in all conversations with the Russian side – which have not always been easy or reasonable. It is important that envoys of the U.S. President are also doing everything possible to keep the negotiations constructive, and Ukraine fully supports them in this – our contribution is always focused solely on constructive engagement. We believe that real opportunities to end the war with dignity still exist, and the world’s ability to pressure the aggressor could significantly help ensure that a dignified peace replaces the war. We count on another round of negotiations being organized very soon, as early as this February, and on that round becoming truly productive. Ukraine’s responses to the most difficult questions ahead of the next meeting are ready. The priorities for our negotiating team for the future meeting in the trilateral format and with the United States have been defined. We continue working to ensure readiness for leaders to meet and resolve issues that cannot yet be settled at the team level. It is the leaders’ format that could prove decisive in many respects, and Ukraine is ready for such a format. The team must also secure conditions for progress on humanitarian issues – POW exchanges must continue. We expect that an exchange will be possible very soon. At the moment, the partners’ priority and all attention are focused on the situation around Iran, and because of this the meeting that had been planned for this week is being postponed at the proposal of the American side. However, Ukraine is ready for a meeting at any moment, in a format that can help and that will be realistic in terms of ending the war. The team reported on the plans of the Russian side, as far as it is known to us, primarily thanks to our intelligence services. I instructed the team to once again communicate with the American negotiators in order, first, to reiterate our readiness for strategic joint work for security and, in particular, protection against strike drones, and second, to once again confirm our readiness to work substantively toward ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. We see that the Russians are now trying to manipulate the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region in favor of their aggression, and also to effectively turn the Iranian regime’s strikes against its neighbors and American bases into a second front of Russia’s war against Ukraine and, more broadly, against the entire West. This must not be allowed. Evil must not be given opportunities for coordination, but the protection of life must be clearly coordinated. This is exactly what we are working for. It is important that everyone understands – Russia does not seek real peace today and is dragging out the war. Following the leaders' meeting today, there is a strong reaffirmation that sanctions against Russia must not be lifted as long as the aggression continues. And we will continue working on security guarantees for Ukraine. I thank France and the United Kingdom for their leadership in the coalition of the willing and capable—a coalition of strength for the sake of peace. This past week alone, the Russians have launched 1,920 attack drones, 1,790 guided aerial bombs, and 17 missiles of various types against Ukraine. I instructed Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi and the Chief of the General Staff to present the information we have on Russia’s capabilities and our prospects. We are also preparing meetings between President Trump’s special envoy and the heads of the Security Service of Ukraine and our intelligence agencies. The information provided will be comprehensive. We count on the United States fully understanding what can be done to compel Russia to peace.

Today is the day of many talks and consultations with our partners. Everyone understands who must take steps to end this war. This is Russia's war, Russia's aggression, and it is Russia that must agree to a ceasefire and engage in real diplomacy that can guarantee peace. Ukraine has unequivocal support, and I am grateful to all partners for that. Everyone agrees that Russia's war against Ukraine is a war in Europe and against Europe. That's why Europe's voice must carry weight in the processes. We are planning certain meetings on the continent. Everyone knows for sure that in Russia, all key decisions are made by one person. And that this person fears U.S. sanctions. And that it is just that Ukraine be a participant in the negotiations. So the format of leaders’ meetings is, in particular, a trilateral format. We discussed this in detail yesterday: several bilateral formats and a trilateral one. I’m grateful to President Trump for his openness to seeking truly effective solutions. Here in Ukraine, we are confident that this war can be ended with a lasting peace. But every step must be carefully considered to hit the mark.

I met with the national security advisors of the Coalition of the Willing member states. Today, three panels were held involving Ukraine’s negotiating team and 18 participants from various countries and institutions. The primary focus was on security guarantees, rebuilding, and a basic framework for a real peace. During our meeting, we discussed all existing draft documents and examined in detail the sequencing of steps: on January 5, a meeting of chiefs of the general staff will take place, followed by a leaders-level meeting in Paris on January 6. After these contacts, we expect a productive joint meeting with representatives of the United States. Now we have a new wave, a new chance to finish this war. And we are thankful that on the diplomatic path, we are also not alone. I thank our partner states and their leaders for their consistent support for our country.
