Today, representatives of UNESCO and our partners around the world are here with us, as are representatives of countries working with Ukraine. Thank you all for standing with us and honoring our statehood and our spirit. But much more must be done to stop this war, to protect this beauty, and to ensure that the history of our Ukrainian shrines continues. More of our Ukrainian shrines deserve to become part of the UNESCO World Heritage List and receive the corresponding attention, protection, and opportunities for restoration. We need more political and sanctions-related work to protect the shrines of our people throughout the entire territory of Ukraine – including Crimea and other parts of our occupied land. On the occasion of the 975th anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, I presented state awards to our people who, through their daily work, make an important contribution to preserving our shrines, culture, and historical heritage. Among those honored are employees of the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra,” representatives of the cultural sector, and members of patronage and charitable organizations. I thank everyone who helps us preserve what is Ukrainian, supports our people, and ensures that our history and culture are known and respected not only in Ukraine, but around the world. This is important work. I am grateful to each and every one of you.

Today, we mark the 975th anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra – almost a millennium. Longer than the history of individual people, families, or generations. And yet still less than everything that unites us – unites us into a community, a nation, a state. Unites us as Ukraine. We must preserve every one of our national shrines like this. And all the more so now, when the challenges of the passage of time have been compounded by the challenges of Russia’s utterly godless and asinine war against Ukraine and against all the places of our culture, our history, our memory – against all places that embody humanity. You have to be utterly despicable and utterly witless to strike the Lavra, but Russia did it. From the address marking the 975th anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. 1/3

Today, together with Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney, we saw the latest Ukrainian developments – weapons and equipment created here in Ukraine to defend our state. I thank everyone engaged in this effort. We are building up our own production, and this is essential. I also met with the Defense Ministers of partner countries who came to us on Independence Day. This is a great sign of solidarity with our warriors and with all Ukrainian people. We discussed the significance of developing Ukraine’s defense industry, cooperation in various formats, and security guarantees for Ukraine, which are crucial both for the future of our state and for the security of the entire Europe. I am grateful for the support and the readiness to continue working together for the security of our country.

In Washington, Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden and I signed an Agreement on Security Cooperation between our countries. Luxembourg will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine and will further contribute to protecting the lives of our people. The Agreement focuses on political and value-based cooperation between our countries. Luxembourg supports sanctions against Russia, our continued strengthening in the European and Euro-Atlantic directions—Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO—and will also help protect and restore our cultural heritage. I thank Luxembourg for choosing justice and peace. 🇺🇦🇱🇺

Today, we began the day with President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel Petr Pavel and our meeting in Moshchun, Kyiv region – a place that is both symbolic and deeply memorable for all of us in Ukraine. The battles for Moshchun against the Russian occupiers played a crucial role in the defense of Kyiv, and therefore the defense of our entire country. Together, we honored the memory of our fallen warriors who fought for Ukraine’s freedom, and expressed our gratitude to all the heroes — thanks to whom we are here today – in Ukrainian Kyiv, in our independent state. And it will always be this way – we will definitely preserve Ukraine’s independence.

🟠Japan is facing a deeply disturbing situation.⛩️ Sōhei Kamiya of Sanseitō has warned that fires at shrines and temples are occurring one after another across Japan, and he has said he will raise this issue in the National Diet. “These are not ordinary buildings. Many Japanese shrines and temples have stood for centuries, some for more than 1,000 years. They were protected by our ancestors through war, disaster, poverty, and social change. And now, they are burning. Recently, a sacred site connected to Kūkai, where a flame is said to have burned for over 1,200 years, was destroyed by fire. If these fires are accidental, the causes must be fully investigated. If they are deliberate, then this is not just arson. It is an attack on Japan’s history, faith, and cultural memory. The world must know: Japan’s ancient shrines and temples are part of humanity’s heritage. They must not be allowed to disappear in silence. We demand a full investigation. We demand accountability. We demand protection for Japan’s sacred places.” #Japan #CulturalHeritage #Shrines #Temples #Kukai #ProtectJapan #Sanseito

2026 is a special year for our state. Ukraine is marking anniversaries: the adoption of the Constitution, the establishment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the restoration of our state symbols and the hryvnia. And the culmination of all this is August 24, 2026 – Independence Day of Ukraine, the 35th anniversary of its restoration. It is important that in such a year, Ukraine is giving rise to new, landmark elements of its state-building. Today, I submitted to Parliament a law on the Ukrainian National Pantheon. The names of all the heroes who, across different centuries and eras, fought for Ukraine and inspired Ukraine will be brought together and forever inscribed in our history – with a capital letter, with great respect and attention from the state. From a Ukraine that respects itself, values its people, and defends what is its own: its right to be Ukrainian. When no one, ever, will dictate how we should live, how we should speak, whom we should love, whom we should be grateful to, or which heroes we should honor. From the address on the occasion of Constitution Day of Ukraine. (2/5)

The Staff meeting today focused on frontline developments, including Ukraine's consistent advances, effective strikes on Russian logistics and bases, and the security of the Black Sea and Danube regions. I thank all of our partners whose assistance enables us to protect our people, infrastructure, and freedom in Ukraine and beyond. We paid close attention to the international affairs. There are many challenges, but our strength is our response to all of them. Protecting Ukraine and our national interests, strengthening or participating in defense, and assisting and caring for those who are close. I thank everyone who is fighting and working for Ukraine and our people.

Modern Ukrainian diplomacy dates back to the early 20th century, when on this day in 1917 the General Secretariat of International Affairs of the Ukrainian People’s Republic was established. Today, on Ukraine's Diplomatic Service Day, we honor the contributions of all generations of Ukrainian diplomats in building and strengthening our state and diplomatic service. It is my greatest honor and responsibility to lead the MFA of Ukraine 🇺🇦 in the face of Russia’s full-scale war, working together with the entire Ukrainian diplomatic team to strengthen our brave defenders on the frontline, consolidate international support, secure weapons and essential aid, increase pressure on the aggressor, and bolster our national resilience. I extend my heartfelt thanks to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський for his trust, to all my colleagues for their tireless work, and to our international partners for standing shoulder to shoulder with us at this historic moment. Our unity and determination are vital to restore peace and security in Europe.

Russia has stolen 1.7 million items of Ukrainian cultural heritage — from ancient artifacts to museum collections. This is not mere looting; it is an attempt to erase Ukraine's identity. Russia’s war against Ukraine is also a war against our memory, culture, and our right to exist. The theft and destruction of Ukrainian heritage is Russia’s deliberate policy. We call on the international community to ensure accountability for these crimes and to protect Ukraine’s cultural legacy.

This is a grave sin\injustice committed by the BJP'S Hindutva regime ! This news is heartbreaking that the Hindutva govt of Gujarat has bulldozed the centuries-old mosques, dargah, shrines of great Sufis and Auliyaa E Kiraam in Patan, while the Supreme Court has imposed a temporary stay on such bulldozer actions. What kind of brutality is this? This is sheer Satanism, these people are now bulldozing graves associated with Muslims. Modi's Gujarat govt openly violated the Supreme Court order, now where should Muslims go? And whom should they trust? There will be spiritual consequences of this Hindutva government’s actions, The officers and politicians who carried out this satanist act of bulldozing shrines of Auliya will regret it spiritually. The brutal act of bulldozing the shrines of our great Sufis has wounded our hearts. This is a grave sin committed by the Hindutva supporters, and Allah will surely punish them for it.

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the day the national flag of Ukraine was raised at the Akademik Vernadsky Antarctic Station. Despite the war, or rather, even in the midst of war, we continue to advance our Ukrainian science. This is extremely important to us: we have people and achievements to be proud of. Ukrainian researchers and scientists are making a significant contribution to ensuring that our country is respected worldwide, while also developing our national science. I spoke with members of the 30th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition online and congratulated them on this milestone. The meeting also included participants of previous Ukrainian expeditions, who, after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, stood up to defend Ukraine. I thank our warriors for their service. I thank all our scientists for devoting themselves to this important work.

Today, during our meeting with Dutch Prime Minister, we focused our discussion on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, including new air defense systems and the missiles for them. We also talked about F-16s for Ukraine and all the necessary weapons for our defense against the Russian occupiers, including shells for our soldiers, essential equipment, and the protection of our energy infrastructure. I am grateful to the Netherlands for announcing a new assistance package for Ukraine. We also discussed the possibility of the Netherlands taking on a patronage role over Zaporizhzhia, which would involve supporting infrastructure, protecting normal life, and addressing humanitarian issues. This is something that will definitely help Ukraine, and we deeply appreciate all the support from the people of the Netherlands, from Prime Minister Schoof personally, and from all the political and public figures in the Netherlands. And of course, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all our people, to everyone who is protecting Ukraine, our Zaporizhzhia, and all our cities and communities — to everyone fighting for Ukraine, working here in our country, and helping us. I am proud of our people and proud of Ukraine.
