Today I walked alongside BJP West Bengal Karyakartas and concerned residents of the Jadavpur area in a Procession and thereafter addressed a Protest Rally organized by the BJP Jadavpur Organizational District. Later on I visited the site of the collapsed apartment building in Kolkata Municipal Corporation’s Ward No. 99... in the Baghajatin area. It's easy to comprehend that what happened was due to the lack of supervision & inspection from the KMC. I demand the arrest & resignation of the KMC Mayor, under whose supervision an obnoxious TMC-Promoter-KMC-Mamata Police nexus has flourished and have facilitated a series of illegal constructions across Kolkata. Water bodies are being filled arbitrarily, erroneous plans are getting sanctioned & illegal floors are constructed over and above the sanctioned plans in exchange of bribes. It has become the set template for earning huge sums of unaccounted black money. In March last year, 13 people were killed after an under-construction building collapsed in the Garden Reach area. Dear Suvendhu Da, It’s ironic to see your sudden concern for Kolkata’s infrastructure while conveniently ignoring similar tragedies in BJP-ruled states. Let’s refresh your memory: 1.Morbi Bridge Collapse, Gujarat (2022) - 135 lives were lost due to gross negligence and lack of oversight. Did the BJP-led Gujarat government take responsibility, or was it brushed aside like every other disaster under BJP rule? 2.Wall Collapse in Noida (2022) - In BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, 4 construction workers lost their lives due to illegal and poorly supervised construction. Where was your outrage then? 3.Indore Temple Stepwell Tragedy (2023) - 36 lives were lost due to encroachments and negligence in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh. Any calls for resignations there? Your party has mastered the art of blaming others while turning a blind eye to its own failures. The truth is, issues like illegal constructions and nexus with promoters aren’t exclusive to Bengal but are widespread in BJP-ruled states as well. Instead of politicizing human tragedies, why not address corruption and negligence within your own party’s governance first? Perhaps if BJP leaders spent less time in rallies and more time ensuring proper governance in their states, such tragedies could actually be avoided. Please come ahead and do such a rally in those places as well!
