Today is Europe Day. And Ukraine is marking it not formally or through sloganeering, but fully aware that we are already an inseparable part of the European family. We are defending Ukraine, our independence, our future – and in doing so, we in Ukraine are defending our Europe. A Europe of which Ukraine has been and will remain a part. From the first days of the full-scale war until today, Europe has stood with Ukraine. And this is not charity – it is a choice made by Europeans: to stand on the same side as the brave and the strong – the Ukrainians who are fighting today for peace and true protection against tyranny, not only for themselves, but for the entire continent. And we will inevitably defend our state, our people, and our right to freely choose our future – a future in Europe. Glory to Ukraine!

Just as we have already shown that courage gives freedom, we will prove that freedom gives success. We will make it a Ukrainian axiom: freedom gives success. This is what convinces the most. Success. This is what our entire land needs. Each and every one of us. All our people. All parts of Ukraine, all children of Ukraine. But for this success to happen, the 🇺🇦 state needs to be transformed. And we will make the transformation that 🇺🇦 have dreamed of a reality! As the Constitution lays the foundations, we need a Doctrine for our state. A clear, unambiguous, bold Doctrine. For Ukraine, which is on its way to victory. And for the victorious Ukraine. This Doctrine should answer all the fundamental questions about 🇺🇦 and our future for ourselves, our neighbors, and everyone in the world. We need a new system, new rules, new opportunities. Today I have proposed for discussion, a national discussion, the main guidelines for the future Ukrainian Doctrine. We need a common vision of what the victorious Ukraine should be like. Let's define priorities for Ukraine after our victory together!

Today, I held a meeting with our foreign affairs team regarding our special foreign policy opportunities. These opportunities are available to our state thanks to many Ukrainians and millions of citizens from other countries who believe in Ukraine and support us. These opportunities allow us to keep Ukraine in the global spotlight, increase support for our state and our people, and effectively advocate for Ukrainian needs. The primary need is to end the war as quickly and justly as possible. Ukrainians have endured and achieved so much in this war because we have united not only within our state but also kept the world united for the right cause – for Ukraine and for everything that makes our world humane and capable of defeating evil. Our unity must continue to be preserved – everyone here in Ukraine, everyone in Europe, and the world who values Ukraine and life. This August, we are preparing news about greater consolidation of our people and everyone worldwide who helps us.

The President and the First Lady honored the memory of the victims of the Holodomors in Ukraine. Our state remembers the millions of people whose lives were taken by artificial famine, and we know who is responsible for this. Unity in memory is as important as unity in defense. Eternal memory to all victims of the Holodomor-genocides. Today, at 4.00 PM, wherever we are – in Ukraine or abroad – let us light a candle of remembrance near our window.

In a week: the United States and Bahrain, the Netherlands and Belgium, Finland and Sweden, Norway and Denmark, and Iceland. Canada. New Zealand. The African Union and Comoros Islands. It is very symbolic that the Peace Formula meeting in Malta takes place on October 28th, the 79th anniversary of the expulsion of Nazi occupiers from the territory of Ukraine. During WWII, the Ukrainian people fought alongside many other nations to defeat evil. Unity provided those nations with the necessary strength. Not only to defeat Nazism and hold Nazis accountable for their crimes, such as the Holocaust and the annihilation of nations. But also to build a peace and security architecture that was supposed to prevent a new global war. We can see today that this architecture did not work. However, our unity will certainly be effective. The unity of all those who help Ukraine defeat Ruscism. The unity of all those in the world who work with us and all our partners to restore the strength of international law and the real weight of UN principles and norms.
