@EU_Commission @DigitalEU If given a choice between safety and freedom, people should really think more of choosing freedom, because the option of "safety" is mostly fake, and you end up with neither. This is so utterly obvious from history, but people prefer to believe that it won't ever happen to them.

My content is being restricted in the EU under the Digital Services Act - the very censorship act I’ve been warning about for years. Under the guise of "online safety" they put a search ban on my account and flagged my posts as sensitive/age restricted content. The EU hates free speech because it threatens their power.

As online harms intensify, children are particularly at risk. To better protect them, our government has introduced the Safe Social Media Act, which will make social media services and AI chatbot services safer for children. The bill, if passed, would require social media services and AI chatbot services to identify, mitigate, and address risks of harm on their platforms, and to develop services that are safe by design and put the safety of children first. It would also prevent Canadians under 16 from having accounts on social media services, while providing a process for social media platforms to seek an exemption if they can demonstrate that they have put in place a sufficient set of protections for children. This law is about holding platforms accountable and ensuring they have protections in place to keep children safe online, reduce harm before it happens, and ensure that digital spaces are safe by design all while protecting the privacy of Canadians.

X argues the investigation was biased and stretched the law beyond its limits. Regulators do not get to rewrite platform rules for the entire planet. If Brussels wins, the DSA becomes a worldwide pressure tool. If X wins, it draws a line around how far EU regulators can reach.

Once these are in place then they will push for the Digital Duty of Care Act. This is the mis/disinformation bill on steroids. And finally Digital ID for everyone. Starting Dec 27, Australia’s new Search Engine Code kicks in: Google,Yahoo, Duck Duck Go & Bing must use age assurance tech (facial estimation, etc.) on logged-in Aussie accounts. Expanded Industry Codes for Broader Platforms (Effective March 2026). This extends "duty of care" obligations to social media, messaging apps (e.g., WhatsApp), designated internet services (e.g., adult sites, high-risk AI platforms), app stores (e.g., Google Play, Apple App Store), and device/equipment providers (e.g., smartphone makers). It emphasises age assurance to block child access to harmful content, plus tools like blocking/reporting features. Then comes the Digital Duty of Care Act followed by mandatory Digital ID.
