Men should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports. Women’s sports are a pathway for achievement and excellence for women in America. We must defend the integrity of women's sports in America for the benefit of women everywhere. Today the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in two cases that challenge state laws reserving women’s and girls sports exclusively for females. As I said at the University of Virginia back in 2022, common sense needs to reign. Today, let’s pray that common sense and fairness reign at SCOTUS today!🙏🏻🇺🇸

BREAKING: The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in FAVOR of West Virginia and Idaho laws that BAN men from women’s sports in a 6-3 decision. The Court upheld both states’ laws requiring school and college sports teams to be separated by biological sex at birth, protecting fairness for female athletes. All three liberal justices dissented.

Conservative activist Riley Gaines asked White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt whether the Trump administration would take action against states that lack protections for women’s sports if the Supreme Court rules to uphold state bans on transgender athletes. “Absolutely,” Leavitt said, adding that the Trump administration has already taken action and would continue to do so. She says the president’s policy is to protect women’s sports and private spaces. The two transgender student athletes who brought the cases to the Supreme Court argued that laws in their states violate the Constitution's guarantee of equal protection and Title IX, the landmark law that prohibits sex discrimination in education programs. They say the bans categorically exclude all transgender girls and women from school sports altogether, and treat them worse than their peers.

I spent 11 years in professional women’s soccer. I know what the women’s category makes possible — and what’s lost when we blur it. This January, Riley Gaines invited me to speak on the steps of the Supreme Court as the justices heard these very cases. Today, we have the ruling: the Court upheld states’ ability to keep girls’ school sports sex-based. It’s a real step toward protecting fair competition for the next generation of girls. Protecting the integrity of women’s sports means telling the truth about biology. The physical differences between male and female athletes are real — and they’re exactly why the category exists in the first place. This is the work. It’s worth doing well, and worth doing right. Title IX and the Constitution do not require biological males in the female category. Fairness and safety for female athletes are protected. This is a massive win for every girl who trains hard, competes hard, and deserves a level playing field. But the fight isn’t over. 23 states still do not have a statewide law protecting women’s sports based on biological sex. In many of those states, biological males are still allowed to compete in the female category under current policies or association rules. The Court gave every state the clear legal authority to act. Now it’s on the remaining legislatures and governors to finish the job and protect girls’ sports everywhere. Title IX was never meant to erase sex. Women’s sports exist for a reason. Keep going until every state gets it right. Is your state one of the 23 still allowing it? If so, tag your governor. #SaveWomensSports #WeWon
