This isn't bad, @ebottcher, but how much clearer does the picture need to be before there are consequences for dirty cops and other members of the #PlacardClass who are documented doing this and accountability for the @NYPDnews that enables it?

Just make the toll booths lock in everyone that has an unreadable plate.

Start with precinct cops ticketing paper license plates. Still happens in my neighborhood; 311 complaints are ignored.

@jehiah It would be interesting to also see NYPD LPR data on unreadable and invalid plates, in addition to the DOT camera data.

The only thing it's affecting are anti-car people. Perhaps instead of worrying about silly plate covers you worry about the millions of unregistered bikes and e-bikes going around putting everyone in danger.

Hopefully this will include giving authority to ticket collectors (meter maids) to write these tickets, and connect with precinct who will impound the vehicles. Enough is enough- Action is needed. We are sick of the growing movement to just do whatever, whenever. It breeds more.

Great initiative. But make sure to extend it to every powered vehicle, including e-bikes, mopeds, scooters etc @nyc_evsa
