Today, we conducted a special operation targeting Cemetery View and Plastic View Informal Settlements. We arrested over 90 illegal immigrants who are now being processed by Home Affairs. Deportations are expected in next few days following court approval. This is the beginning of a process to clean-up these areas.... We have 800 South Africans who reside in Plastic View and they will be relocated by the City. The illegal immigrants arrested during this operation were from Zimbabwe, Mozambique,Lesotho and Malawi. The operation also uncovered drugs and over 648 people were searched.
