Today, we conducted a special operation targeting Cemetery View and Plastic View Informal Settlements. We arrested over 90 illegal immigrants who are now being processed by Home Affairs. Deportations are expected in next few days following court approval. This is the beginning of a process to clean-up these areas....

The illegal immigrants arrested during this operation were from Zimbabwe, Mozambique,Lesotho and Malawi. The operation also uncovered drugs and over 648 people were searched. It will take joint partnerships between law enforcements to deal with the impact of illegal immigration. One by one! @CityTshwane

The informal Settlement has a large number of foreign nationals and that has complicated efforts for relocation. The number of informal settlements in the City of Tshwane have skyrocketed from 220 in 2019 to 575 as recorded this year. Tomorrow, at the City’s council meeting, we will be presenting a plan to provide dignity and a lifeline for residents who reside in informal settlements. The murders at Marry Me wouldn’t have happened had we as a government done our jobs to protect and safe guard our communities. We have outsourced the duty to protect our citizens, and that is unjustifiable. City of Tshwane

Residents of Tshwane, we are back in Sunnyside this evening for a by-law enforcement operation. We are at the street that houses the popular nightspot House 22. That club and many other businesses here have been served with eviction notices by the City of Tshwane. These businesses don’t have valid permits and many are none complaint. We were here a few months back and some of those we closed managed to reopen. We are closing them down again. City of Tshwane

We said we want a clean and safe city. Tonight, we conducted an oversight visit to observe the work performed by the night time cleaning operation. We are in Marabastad clearing illegal dumping. Our first stop was at Lilian Ngoyi Street. We have done a lot of work in the past few months to make this city is clean, but we know the job is far from over. We are owed over R2 billion by government departments (national and provincial). This campaign aims to raise revenue for the municipality. We have identified three land parcels in Olievenhoutbosch that will be demarcated for use by registered South African informal traders. On 23 & 24 April 2026 our teams will be stationed at Olievenhoutbosch Community Hall to register informal traders and allocate trading space in the newly identified areas. We recently demolished illegal trading stands in Olievenhoutbosch as part of efforts to clean the area and rebuild the informal sector in accordance with the City’s Informal Trading and Township Economy By-Law.
