Yesterday, we embarked on the journey to initiate the Olokola Deep Sea Port Project, which spans across Ogun and Ondo states. We have commenced community engagements, surveys, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and other essential activities. We have been to Ode Omi, Araromi Sea side, Okitipupa, Igbokoda… These efforts will facilitate our approach to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for approvals and ultimately enable us to move to the site ASAP. I personally lead the project team for the engagement and site visitation to demonstrate the respect the President of Dangote holds for the communities involved, pass his well wishes and explain our presence. I conveyed to them the seriousness and readiness of the Dangote Group to commence and complete this project.

Dangote Gets Hero’s Welcome in Ethiopia, Raises Investment to $4bn President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, received a warm welcome in Gode, Ethiopia, where he was hosted by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed. Both leaders visited the site of the proposed fertiliser plant to assess ongoing construction. Ethiopia had signed a shareholders’ agreement with Dangote Group in August last year to establish a urea plant with a capacity of three million metric tonnes annually. Dangote announced an increase in investment from $2.5 billion to over $4 billion, reflecting expanded scope, including a 110km pipeline, a 120MW power plant, a polypropylene packaging facility, and a two-million-tonne NPK blending plant. Our visit to the facility which was a follow-up to an earlier meeting with Alhaji Aliko Dangote in Nassau, The Bahamas, during the AFREXIM Bank annual meeting last month was rewarding. After briefing President Bola Tinubu today, he announced that NNPC is now ready to connect the AKK Gas Pipeline project to power industries in the North, particularly in Kano and Kaduna, as well as Ajaokuta and Abuja. The AKK project is one of the most important legacies of the late President Buhari, under whose administration the project was initiated with a clear vision of boosting energy security, industrialization and economic growth across the country. This vital infrastructure project is being executed by the Dangote Group under the Federal Government’s Tax Credit Scheme, and our administration played a significant role in ensuring that this project became a reality for the overall benefit of the good people of Ogun State and other road users. About ten months ago, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and I paid an inspection visit to this strategic corridor, which holds immense significance for Ogun State and Nigeria at large. When completed, it will provide a seamless alternative route for commuters from Sango, Iyana Ipaja, and Itori, eliminating the need to use the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway or pass through Abeokuta to access the Sagamu Interchange.

Under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Federal Government is committed to completing the National Library Headquarters in Abuja. Over the past few months, the Federal Ministry of Education has held several meetings with members of the National Library team and its contractors to discuss the resumption of the project. The project, which was designed in 1981 and began construction in 2006, is the third (3rd) of three national monuments (the National Ecumenical Centre and the National Mosque) that has yet to be completed. This week, my team and I toured the project site with the CEO of the National Library, the project’s architect, and contractor to assess the progress made before construction paused in 2012. By June 2025, we will proceed with Phase 1 of the project, which will include the completion of Basement Levels 1 and 2, the Ground Floor, the Second Floor, and the building's external works and furnishings. Mr. President is deeply passionate about Nigeria’s human capital development, of which education is an integral part. The President has also instructed TETFund to allocate funding towards the project to ensure its resumption and completion. With a National Library, we can provide all Nigerians with a communal learning environment to help them grow and become their best selves.
