U.S. autonomous trucking company Aurora has launched its second-generation driverless trucks. Aurora plans to deploy the new fleet across its commercial network of 10 driverless routes throughout the U.S. Sun Belt, to serve additional customers. As of the end of June, the Aurora Driver had completed 440,000 driverless miles. The new fleet is powered by Aurora’s next-generation hardware (Aurora Driver 2). This new hardware is more powerful and built to last one million miles. Its trucks are capable of driving nonstop from Phoenix to Fort Worth, a roughly 1,000 mile long trip that takes 15 hours to complete. Earlier this year, the company had five autonomous trucks carrying cargo without safety monitors between Dallas, Houston, Fort Worth and El Paso, Texas. Not sure what the fleet count is now.
