No reasonable person would hand over their private files, messages, mail, and calendar to a company that’s only 3 years old 🤯 Especially after that lawsuit from just a couple of weeks ago, where you got caught embedding hidden trackers (Meta Pixel + Google) that leaked user chats straight to Meta and Google, even in incognito mode. Data still flies to your cloud servers, and after this? The level of trust is zero. Wake me up when you actually ship real, fully LOCAL alternatives instead of hyping risky cloud access.

We’ve come a long way

First real test of Perplexity Personal Computer: "Read my iMessage from the past week. Find the 3 conversations where I said something worth keeping." It pulled one I'd completely forgotten — a Tuesday thread with a friend that was the germ of my best tweet this month. My notes app is full. My iMessage was where the ideas actually lived.

So many releases today: Qwen 3.6, Opus 4.7, and now Perplexity Computer. But honestly, Perplexity is the only one trying hard to be in the AI race without owning any LLM model of its own. Can it survive in long term?

@AravSrinivas Local orchestration is great for latency and privacy, but it complicates monetization. Cloud APIs subsidize cheap UX through data visibility. Device-native agents will need new business models. likely usage-based, authenticated at the session level.

What about the token blood-sucking bug that drains the tokens with reckless abandon?. How do we optimize token usage?. I've been with perplexity from the beginning, tried the computer with the freeby credits,didn't go well.Not max'ng for now.

I think perplexity is one of the best AI platform right now, even with anthropic shipping speed, perplexity still shipping better feature.

W perplexity went from search engine to research tool to cloud agent to now controlling your actual desktop. in 18 months. local files, native apps, browser — all from one interface. this is the same trajectory claude took with cowork except perplexity has 19 models running behind it.

This is the shift , from AI you visit in a browser to AI that lives on your machine and actually works alongside you. Local files, native apps, always-on. Feels like the real starting point of personal AI.
