One of the hardest problems with using AI agents to automate meaningful document work (contracts, KYC, diligence, claims, and more) is not actually building the agent, but building the UI/UX audit trail so the human can understand decisions linking back to the source documents - in PDFs, Powerpoint, Word, etc. This requires really good layout detection and segmentation, that you need to surface as *metadata context* to the AI agent, beyond any document -> markdown conversion. Nothing worse than letting unchecked AI agents use your data without guardrails. AI apps are becoming more useful, but with that, they are getting access to more of our data. Now imagine that access in a family context, where the app can access everyone's emails, calendars, chats, photos, etc. I'm not sure how this works in practice, but I'm looking forward to using this app for a couple of weeks to see exactly how much I can trust it.

Doc editing for lawyers is disjointed: you can edit with AI in chat, but then need to "Open in Word" to make manual tweaks without breaking formatting. Alternatively you can use a Word add-in like Spellbook's, but this only allows you to work on one document at a time. For a long time, Mitch and I talked about getting to a real "Cursor for Contracts" experience. With a lot of blood and sweat, we're finally there. Spellbook's new editor combines the best of AI editing and manual editing in one place—while fully supporting rich Word formatting that lawyers rely on. Ask AI to make edits across an entire document set, then review, accept and tweak all in one window. This sounds like a small thing, but the reduction in friction has totally changed my document editing workflow.

They are dynamic and are easily extended as needs arise. I have hooked my Artifacts to talk to my agents, and similarly, the agents can talk to artifacts. This has allowed me to build powerful artifacts that reduce my inbox to zero, keep me updated on any topic of interest, fast prototyping, do deep research, design/trigger new experiments, generate figures to improve understanding, schedule research, search relevant information, discover topics, and so much more. What you see in the clip is not a website. It's a simple interactive HTML artifact. HTML artifacts are useful for designers, engineers, researchers, students, and anyone working with agents. Lastly, HTML doesn't replace Markdown. They are a much better combination working together.
