I love this. It’s moments like this that make it clear: there is no such thing as “no cinematography” in a movie. There are always choices being made about how to frame a shot, where to put a camera, how to light a scene…even if you’re trying to obscure those decisions.

The laughs were then joined by boos by the audience. Antonioni & Monica Vitti (who was sobbing) fled the theater. On the next day, a number of established writers and filmmakers published an open letter of support for the movie with signatures claiming it was the best film screened at Cannes. He was so impressed with the film that he didn't want to change anything in the movie but he wanted it to be entirely shot again with Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell as the leads.
