Tom McCarthy insisted on a "zero-style" cinematography for SPOTLIGHT (2015) He banned dramatic camera swoops or flashy lighting, wanting the film to feel like an "unvarnished, blue-collar" procedural. This superb Movie premiered 11yrs ago today.

Love it. Definitely in my top 10 rewatched movies from this century. Performances are incredible across the board.

What a fantastic film with a great cast. Both gripping and compelling. Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci were all brilliant.

I love this. It’s moments like this that make it clear: there is no such thing as “no cinematography” in a movie. There are always choices being made about how to frame a shot, where to put a camera, how to light a scene…even if you’re trying to obscure those decisions.

It’s a shame the topic is so boring because it’s maybe one of the best made movies I’ve ever seen. A real movie’s movie.

…which is why, as great and as re-watchable as Tom McCarthy’s Spotlight is, it’ll never surpass Alan J. Pakula’s All the President’s Men or even arguably Steven Spielberg’s The Post.

Great movie, but did the Church finally stop protecting pedophiles or did they just get better at it

That's a really cool descriptor. No real style about it just clean shots of very good actors in important serious situations
