I discussed in detail with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham everything related to security, the protection of our people, preparations for winter, and available diplomatic opportunities. I thank the United Kingdom for its steadfast support for our energy sector. There is a new contribution, and we particularly value it as winter approaches. At the same time, we are in constant communication with our partners about finding additional air defense capabilities for Ukraine. Our intelligence is now reporting that Russia is preparing a new massive attack against Ukraine. When Ukrainians are living every day under the threat of missile and drone strikes, lifting sanctions is out of the question. The Prime Minister and I see this eye to eye: as long as the war continues, sanctions must remain in place and be strengthened. Thank you!

I had a good meeting with the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen Statsministeriet. We discussed the continuation of military support and direct investments in Ukraine’s defense industry. Denmark is one of the leaders in supporting our state and is preparing the 26th package of military aid for Ukraine. This support helps save lives, and we deeply appreciate it. We also talked about the negotiations in Istanbul and the coordination of diplomatic efforts with the U.S. and European partners. We share the view that pressure on Russia is crucial if they refuse to agree to a ceasefire. In July this year, Denmark will begin its Presidency of the EU Council. We are counting on their support for Ukraine’s European integration, which we discussed during the meeting. I thank the Government and all the people of Denmark for every form of assistance to our state and for their unwavering support of our people.

I met with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. We coordinated our positions ahead of the upcoming meeting of the Coalition of Willing. Now is the time when there is a real chance to end the war and stop Russia. To achieve this, we must continue increasing pressure on the Russian Federation, expand support for Ukraine, and finalize the security guarantees. We discussed the consequences of Russian strikes on Ukraine and the strengthening of our air defense and energy resilience – this is one of our key priorities at this stage. I am grateful to Canada and Prime Minister Mark Carney for talks that are always substantive and focused on what can help protect lives right now. We discussed in detail the options for ensuring Ukraine’s financial resilience this year and next. Thank you for your readiness to help secure the necessary financing for our budget needs and for our warriors. I also spoke about the virtually constant Russian ballistic missile and drone strikes. Mark assured me that Canada is ready to join our European anti-ballistic missile program FREYJA with its technologies. This is a necessary and timely step. There will also be additional defense deliveries. Of course, we also had a meaty discussion about promising bilateral projects in defense and the economy. In particular, our teams are currently working on the Drone Deal. We expect to reach a full-fledged agreement in the near future. Thank you, Mark! President Trump invited Ukraine and other European countries to Washington today – this is the first meeting in such a format, and it is very serious. When peace is discussed for one country in Europe, it means peace for all of Europe. We are ready to continue working with maximum effort to end the war and to ensure reliable security. These are the key issues. Last night, Russian attacks on our cities continued – among those killed were two children, and dozens of people were wounded. People were simply sleeping when the Russian army launched strikes on the cities. We discussed the battlefield situation and our strong diplomatic capabilities – Ukraine’s and all of Europe’s together with America. Russia can only be forced into peace through strength, and President Trump has that strength. We have to do everything right to make peace happen. Thank you!

Belgium significantly helped us at the time in strengthening our combat aviation, and we appreciate its readiness to continue supporting us. I hope that we will be able to implement what we discussed, and that there will be greater protection against Russian strikes. Ukraine is also ready to share our experience and expertise and support partners who have stood with us since the beginning of the war. Our teams are now working on the text of the Drone Deal, and we discussed potential dates for signing it. I thank the Government and people of Belgium for more than €1.1 billion in support already allocated this year, for backing our path toward EU membership, and for their full solidarity with Ukraine.

It’s important to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and advance the PURL initiative, which enables us to purchase missiles for air defense systems from the United States. Protected skies over Ukraine are one of the key factors that will force Russia to end this war. We also discussed continuing energy assistance to Ukraine. Today, above all, we discussed how important it is to maintain our unity and work together to stop this war. I thank Poland for its new aid package. This is an important step in supporting us, and we appreciate it. We also addressed further development of the Carpathian Initiative and the opportunities it can create for all the countries in our Carpathian macro-region. Of course, we are ready to share our experience with Poland and are open to mutually beneficial cooperation. This is how we should continue building relations between our countries.

Russia continues to attack our energy sector, regular logistics, and critical infrastructure. And our responses to them for this are tangible. There are new results from the Defense Forces of Ukraine regarding the refinery in Syzran. There was also a strike in Taganrog on a drone production facility, as well as on a drone preparation and launch site in the Oryol region. Targets were hit in the Black Sea as well. I thank every one of our warriors for the effectiveness of our long-range sanctions! The day before, the United States also announced a significant decision regarding Russia’s VTB Bank – one of Russia’s systemic banks, which is heavily involved in schemes supporting Russia’s war and, in particular, its relations with the Iranian regime. All such schemes that work against peace truly need to be dismantled. I thank our partners for this useful step! There is no alternative to ending this war. And all forms of pressure on Russia must create the right diplomatic conditions. Glory to Ukraine!
