March crossings through Strait of Hormuz led by liquid tankers According to #MarineTraffic and Kpler data, a total of 220 vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz during March across the dry bulk, liquids, LPG and LNG segments. Liquid tankers accounted for 111 crossings, or 51% of the total, followed by 82 dry bulk vessels (37%) and 27 LPG carriers (12%). No LNG crossings were recorded in March. Traffic remained skewed toward west-to-east movements out of the Gulf, which made up 149 crossings, or 68% of the monthly total. East-to-west transits into the Gulf accounted for 71 crossings, or 32%, highlighting an uneven flow pattern through one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints.

Monaco yacht traffic surges during Grand Prix weekend Vessel activity around Monaco ramped up sharply during the Grand Prix weekend, as yachts and pleasure craft converged on the marina between 5–7 June. According to #MarineTraffic data, arrivals climbed from 216 on 4 June to 379 on 5 June, 449 on 6 June, and 500 on race day, 7 June. Departures followed the same pattern, reaching 503 on 7 June, showing the rapid turnover of vessels around the event. Across the three Grand Prix days, Monaco recorded an average of 878 daily vessel movements including arrivals and departures. That is around 5.7 times higher than the previous week’s average of 153 daily movements, representing an increase of approximately 473%. Strait of Hormuz over the last 72 hours: escalation continues. Visible vessel traffic fell off a cliff. Only the Iran lane has vessels with AIS on, nothing in the Oman lane. We know there were still transits because UKMTO reported vessels being attacked and IRGC said 4 vessels were attacked yesterday. One tanker, Kavomaleas, was hit and caught on fire. You can see that in the video time-lapse. The Oman lane will remain heavily contested. Bloomberg reported that tanker owners are offering 6 months' worth of pay if the crews make the voyage in and out of the Strait of Hormuz. How much is your life worth?
