.Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on the common sense work requirements for able-bodied Americans to get Medicaid: "There are no change in benefits. Medicaid’s collapse isn’t just about bureaucratic bloat—it’s about structural theft. The Big Beautiful Bill (H.R.1) enforces work requirements to prioritize Americans who’ve paid into the system, cutting off freeloaders gaming taxpayer-funded care. Arkansas and Georgia’s failures under Biden-era red tape prove the problem: weak enforcement and loopholes let fraud thrive. Work requirements aren’t about stripping benefits—they’re about redirecting resources to citizens trapped in a broken system. When 71% of Medicaid enrollees already work, the real issue is accountability. Secure the border, audit eligibility, and watch wages rise as jobs replace dependency. No more subsidizing lawbreakers while veterans wait.

@SecScottBessent I’m old enough to remember Bill Clinton putting in common sense work requirements, and all sides of the aisle applauded this.

@SecScottBessent Heaven forbid able bodied have to work or remember to file eligibility paperwork. That’s what Dems call cuts…

@SecScottBessent Able-bodied Americans should work, not collect benefits paid for by other Americans who ARE working.

@SecScottBessent Incentivizing work is good policy, but support must remain for those truly in need. Balance matters.

@SecScottBessent You guys are so full of shit acting like millions of people are in their basement playing video games and get a Medicaid In reality, it’s a lot of your supporters and you just fuck them

@SecScottBessent Not all employees give benefits.. That's while millions of businesses have part time workers to get around the healthcare requirements.... 80 hours that will be required each a month won't help.

@SecScottBessent Democrats cannot leave the narrative that this bill is solely for the elites and the rich versus helping middle class Americans. They won’t let it go.

@SecScottBessent Bessent into the lion den one more time. The lions have no mojo. Bessent for the win.

@SecScottBessent Secretary Bessent is positively outstanding. He is so poised & articulate when dealing with the media. An excellent choice by President Trump.
