A man walked into a gas station with one gun… and walked out with two. The second gun came right off the hip of the guy standing at the register. That is the part people need to understand. Having your gun visible does not automatically scare criminals. Sometimes it makes you the target. The robber already had a gun. He walked in armed. Saw another gun. Took it. Then pointed both guns at the man he stole it from. That is not deterrence. That is opportunity. I do not have a problem with open carry. But if you are going to do it, you better understand what it demands. Retention. Awareness. Consistency. Because nobody stays at level ten all day. And the second you drop your guard, somebody may be watching. Concealed carry makes more sense to me because I do not want people knowing I have a gun until they need to know. Be honest: Does open carry deter criminals, or does it just show them where the gun is?

He just answers the question This is so different than basically everyone else in politics CNN asks him, why he’s a Republican He doesn’t dance around the real reason, even through many democrats likely wouldn’t like the answer It’s for the second amendment But then he explains exactly why. It makes perfect sense He explains his plan to protect schools from fun threats even thought he’s for the second amendment and having a gun to protect yourself He has a real, and clear plan One other thing I notice here is CNN asks the question and lets him answer. I carry appendix almost every day. But let’s be honest: Appendix carry is tolerable. Not safe. You’re carrying a loaded gun pointed at your femoral artery and everything else you really don’t want to lose. A man with 15 years of firearms experience had an accidental discharge while drawing from appendix. Beep to bang was less than half a second. The round went through his holster and through his body. A few degrees different, and he might not be here to tell the story. That’s why I don’t draw at 100% on the range. That’s why I hyperextend my trigger finger. That’s why I look the gun back into the holster every single time. And that’s why reholstering fast is stupid. Nobody wins a gunfight by holstering fast. Two men allegedly kicked in his door. One of them brought a gun. The victim reportedly didn’t have one. Then the fight spilled out of the apartment… and one intruder got shot with his own gun. That is the part people need to sit with. The man inside had barricaded the door with a couch. A couch. That tells you he already knew trouble was coming. He already knew the lock might not be enough. But once two grown men kick through your door and end up beating you in your bedroom, the couch has done everything it can do. Now you are gambling with your life. And this man reportedly had to fight for a gun that did not even belong to him. So before anybody says, “See, he didn’t need to be armed,” no.
