Ukraine did not sign the 2022 peace agreement for fear of losing army strength - Victoria Nuland Russia had demanded to limit the Ukrainian army to the size of the French and British armies. This was unacceptable to NATO as this would have disabled future attacks on Russia. It also would have reversed most NATO investments and re-armaments in Ukraine. We are closer to peace than ever during the war, but at the same time we cannot be sure whether Russia is ready for peace.
