Try this in google. Search for random hexadecimal values between 20 and 38 characters long. It will consistently come up with...car dealerships.

quite a few years ago I reported a bug to them where you could google credit card numbers using the number range operator in hex. It didn't work in decimal but they missed hex. Fun times

It thinks you want a VIN

I encountered this recently on stream, was doing the standard CTF measure of "Googling something that looked like a hash" and the only hit was a Suburu dealership. I checked the source code of the page and there was nothing remotely like the value in it.

I have seen this when I am looking up hashes directly in google before I go to virustotal directly. I just assumed it has something to do with it being similar to the VIN.

could it be something to do with color codes somewhere in the source? I’m also seeing a lot of car dealerships, but also different shopping entries for solid color rugs, pattern wall paper, solid color posters, etc.

It might have something to do with the large quantities of numbers that these types of websites hold

Most likely finding window stickers for a vehicle. Most dealers all use the same software for the web and those are typically hashed the same way for a unique url.
