A woman visiting an inmate at Rikers Island attempted to exchange contraband by hiding it inside a child's diaper, prison officials say. Surveillance footage from the April incident shows the woman sitting with the young girl in her lap across the table from the inmate in a visiting area. The woman fidgets uncomfortably as authorities say she was stuffing something inside the child's diaper. She can then be seen passing the child over to the inmate, who reaches into the girl's diaper and slides something into his jumpsuit. Corrections officers reportedly became suspicious of the exchange and brought a dog to the visiting area to check out the inmate, according to PIX11. No contraband was immediately found, but the officers speculated that he had hidden the item in his rectum, an area officials are not permitted to check. Investigators later determined the contraband exchanged was drugs, but they did not reveal how that conclusion was reached. None of the individuals involved in the incident have been identified by authorities, and their faces are intentionally blurred in the surveillance footage.
