Put the solar panel on top of the box and use it as a roof to protect the box from rain. And the cable connections should enter the box from the bottom, not from the top. When you put the solar panel on top, you can easily access the box.

Add holes to the bottom so water can drain

Cable should enter from beneath.

Mount the solar on top of the bracket the box is mounted on. And put the cable glands on the bottom as the other folks say. The weight of the solar pqnel together with heat from sun could warp the cover and cause it to leak.

My concern would be water ingress.

Those plastic clips will not last too many years out in the sun. If the door was instead secured using screws, then that would be a better solution.

It’s wild how much more waterpoof that is than every panel I can see on the school roof nearby, and those aren’t exactly dying all of the time. Is this overkill?

Does that card already have built-in solar panel control and battery charger included?

This is also cool. What are your plans for this?
