Tucker ushered it in with his UNWAVERING support of DT’s presidency. I can’t take these DT supporters seriously. DT hasn’t changed. He’s the same evil as he was on day1 and that’s who they supported and were attracted to. They are all responsible for the demise of this country.

That phase is called Caesarism (Howard Spengler in Decline of the West - 1918). It’s when the republic has become corrupt and plutocratic and the domestic front has decayed due to imperial overstretch (Paul Kennedy in Rise and Fall of Great Empires - 1987). The people, frustrated with their political class elect a charismatic authoritarian populist who decides the system is responsible for all the failures of the republic and proceeds with burning down the institutions and the system it is built upon. Spengler postulates there is no coming back from Caesarism, which signals the fall of Rome. Kennedy has a more nuanced view that when the total sum of interests exceeds the total sum of resources to address them (imperial overstretch) a leader can still correct the trajectory by focusing once more on the domestic and reducing the imperial exposure. Time will tell if @POTUS in all his radical policies will prove Spengler wrong and Kennedy right, or the other way around.
