For this tutorial we will be using HeyGen. A one stop shop for Avatars, Voice Dubbing (with lipsync etc) Link will be below.

First you need an account with HeyGen (

You'll navigate to the "Free Instant Avatar" section.

Joshua the founder of HeyGen will show you how to get it done.

You can basically get video instructions, or you can get text instructions. I prefer the video instructions.

Now you need to record your source video, I just plugged in my iPhone 14 Pro to my computer, and recorded using QuickTime. Quality is great, and you can chop it later.

I cleaned up the video in CapCut. Basically just removing things I did not want in the video. Like artefacts are strange things. I then just collapsed the clip into one and exported.

Then you take the clip and upload it to HeyGen

Make sure you tick all the boxes and click upload.

Then you need to record your consent, so that they know you are you and not making an avatar of somebody else.

Then you wait, grab a coffee or take a long pee, takes about 5 minutes, max. You should then be ready to jump into the video builder.

Here you get access to your video, and the avatar, you won't be able to preview the video, but you'll be able to preview the audio. This script was written by GPT4 Just write or paste your script and press the purple submit button in the top right corner.

You'll then have access to your video and the meta information about it in your videos tab. Super simple.

You can use the HeyGen API to start making these videos programatically. If you run a business and want to send personal messages to every new customer, you can do that.

I think overall I should have spent a little bit more time cleaning up the video from times when I did not look straight into the camera. So will make a revised clone and try some more.

So visit to get started. *free, it will cost you credits to generate the video, 1 credit per minute.
