TVK FUNCTIONARY MURDERED DUE TO PREVIOUS ENMITY SINCE 2009 DCP, ADYAR KARTHIKEYAN SHUNTED TO VACANCY RESERVE Five men were arrested on Sunday for the murder of 45-year-old history-sheeter Kannan at Vannanthurai in Besant Nagar. The TVK functionary Kannan, who ran a car rental business for IT companies, was standing... on Ellaiyamman Koil Street in Ramasamy Avenue when a group of men arrived on two-wheelers, attacked him with knives and fled. He died at the spot. Following this, Adyar deputy commissioner of police Karthikeyan has been vacant reserve (VR) by the DGP Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal. A complaint was lodged by Kannan’s cousin Purushothaman, 33, at Shastri Nagar police station. Police formed a special team under the supervision of the Adyar deputy commissioner and led by the assistant commissioner and inspector of Shastri Nagar station. The team arrested Bharani, 20, of Rukmani Nagar, Adyar; Rakesh, 20, of Govindarajapuram, Adyar; Naresh, 20, of Periyar Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur; Manikandan, 20, of Kottur; and Hariharan, 20, of Indira Nagar, Adyar. Police said the murder was linked to a cycle of retaliatory killings between two groups from Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur. In 2009, Siva, Bharani’s paternal uncle, was murdered by Kannan and his associates in Adyar. Siva’s faction later retaliated by killing Mangaleri Kandan in 2013. In 2016, Kandan’s faction killed Siva’s brother Velu near Nandanam. Police said Bharani and his associates killed Kannan as a counter-attack for Velu’s murder. Why were these criminals allowed to walk free when they were supposed to be behind bars? How could such glaring loopholes in the law-and-order system have existed as far back as 2009? Who is ultimately responsible for this failure? People with criminal records are being allowed to roam freely and potentially commit further crimes, even murders, while so many innocent people remain behind bars. How can such a system be justified? Where is the accountability for these serious failures?

So, going by the police narrative: Velu is apparently Bharani's father - the victim of this ongoing gang rivalry that began in 2009, when Bharani was just a toddler (3 years old). Now, 17 years later, Bharani and his friends have orchestrated this murder and put an end to it by eliminating Kannan? Clear case of personal vendetta - a son's revenge to his murdered father!!! Look at these boys - all around 20, probably college age. They may have avenged their personal losses, but they've clearly lost their own futures in this bloodbath. If they have been killing each other's group members, why were they never put behind bars already? WTAF is wrong with the policing and judicial system in this country?

If there was previous enimity why did the police keep quiet all these years? If Kannan was responsible for killing of Siva why was he not arrested earlier? It's because the police and judicial system are both poor, such crimes are happening.
