Twitch's upcoming Viewership Cap for streamers persistently viewbotting will impact LARGE creators first, but over time will be applied to creators of all sizes.

I’m sorry, but I don’t believe it. They will have their favorites that they don’t touch. They will talk big and not act like they always do.

Ok fine I’ll cap my viewers at 20,000 👍🏼

I fail to see how this will solve any issue

Fucking idiot just needs to ban everyone who is Viewbotting then the platform will be normal for streaming 🤣

I understand the viewbotting, but if they start capping actual growth...

A viewer cap is dumb lol

Twitch CEO

Why aren't they being BANNED? Why is twitch tolerating "persistent viewbotters"? That just seems wild to me. So you have data of people persistently viewbotting and haven't banned them? All of the bots I've seen are day old accounts. People regularly watching streamers like collecting badges and accumulating channel points. It's quite easy to tell the actual viewers from the bots. ExtraEmily had the site up on her stream, yet she's still streaming. Was there even any disciplinary action there? It all feels really disingenuous.

@djclancy999 good idea with big to small roll down. let the big creators show the smaller ones how to navigate the changes.

No one is going to put a cap on their viewership. What happens if someone legit wants to join the stream when it’s capped at 200 and you’re 201. Do you just get put in a queue? No body will use this dumbass feature.

How can you cap some one - so the math Twitch streamer has 400 watching - 200 VB - 100 active chatters - 100 lurking So they subtract that 200 and what cap you at 200 even if that channel gets boost again if im wrong explain

I’d also be cautious about assuming Twitch can perfectly distinguish: coordinated lurk communities, embedded viewers, passive mobile viewers, and actual paid viewbots.

That’s especially true when advertisers are involved. Twitch cares more about “verified real audience” metrics than raw concurrent viewers now. Twitch’s systems usually optimize for platform-wide ad integrity, not fairness to small streamers.

Bros reading a script.

How will this solve anything... you will literally still see them viewbotting and still controlling the first few rows in most categories. you need to design a better system in general because it legit just favors bad actors... @Twitch you have so many potential other streams quitting who could become big but never get that chance because they get buried under fake viewership controlling the categories...

How about he enforces twitch ToS blind and fair for a fucking change. He COULD find ways to kill the botting culture naturally, but nope. Lets just punish SOME of the people doing it, but the bigger you are, the less likely you are to get struck with the perma banhammer.

Timthetatman literally done a video about this. People with viewbot streamers that they like to keep them on top, even if said streamer has nothing to do with it.

Just turn off being able to see how many viewers a channel has at this point xD

Even if Twitch says the upcoming “viewership cap” targets persistent viewbotting, it’s reasonable to expect the detection systems to eventually affect everyone indirectly. But historically, platform moderation systems tend to “trickle down”

Big creators first means real accountability finally.

There is no way this will be accurate seeing as how view bots have been used for years, and algorithmically incorporated into even the largest creators' analytics for those time periods.

LITERALLY THE DUMBEST HUMAN IN EXISTENCE

‘With our next update Twitch will be able to control your Cap and there’s nothing you can do about it…’ or ‘Due to an error thousands or Streamer’s view caps were set lower than they should have and they had no control…’ 😅
