A 64-year-old man died and two firefighters were hospitalised after a fire broke out on the seventh floor of Atlantic Building on Sherly Rajan Road in Bandra West late on Wednesday night. The fire, which was brought under control close to midnight, had initially triggered fears of a person being trapped inside the building. The fire was spread accross to electrical wiring, electrical installations and household articles in Rooms 701 and 702 on the seventh floor of the ground-plus-seven-storey building. Civic authorities later confirmed that Azim Barodawala (64) was brought dead to Bhabha Hospital. Two firefighters also sustained injuries while battling the blaze. Shivshankar Bharat Puri (32), attached to Bandra Fire Station, and Navnath Mohan Bite (34) were admitted to Bhabha Hospital after suffering suffocation during the operation.

A Delta Air Lines flight from Savannah, Georgia, to Atlanta was forced to turn back Sunday night due to engine trouble, which sparked a large grass fire near the airport runway. Delta flight 1067, a Boeing 737-900, had just taken off from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport around p.m. Sunday when the pilot declared an emergency. The long-empty building was going to finally be redeveloped for housing and commercial use. The building is owned by Stuart Lindquist, the same man who has been regularly threatened with violence for owning the building that DHS rents for ICE in Portland.

The Cherry Fire is one of several large wildfires that rapidly grew across central Utah today, forcing evacuations, closing roads, and sending thick smoke across much of the state. These two women were visiting the fire department in NYC and wanted a tour. The firefighters were gracious for the public outreach and obliged. The women tried on some of the pieces of the uniform and then danced and had fun while touring the fire station and checking out the fire trucks. People who saw the video were outraged and claim that this is inappropriate and that they should not have been allowed to do this. Do you see anything inappropriate with what they did?

Engine 3 arrived six minutes later and reported smoke coming from the back door on and eaves of an abandoned AM/PM. A full alarm was called, and crews started to search for the source of the fire. As seen in this video, there was a significant fire event. The roof collapsed, and operations shifted to a defensive mode. At this time, crews are unable to enter the building to extinguish remaining hot spots, and excavators will be used to tear it down. Firefighters were on the roof when it collapsed, but they were uninjured, as was the individual seen in the video. This video highlights the dangers our crews face every time they battle a fire, and we are thankful that everyone is safe. The fire was caused by homeless activity.

“At 6:00 this morning the Fire Department was alerted to a report of a fire at 2086 Anthony Avenue. We arrived to find heavy fire in two buildings and very quickly transmitted a 2nd alarm. It eventually became a 3rd alarm, bringing more than 40 fire and EMS units and 150 fire and EMS personnel to the scene. We had fire throughout two buildings, and unfortunately, we did have two fatalities,” said Chief of Department John Esposito. “We did unfortunately have a car parked on the closest fire hydrant. We’ve seen that now a couple of times in the last week throughout the City. We all know that we should not be parking on fire hydrants and when you park on fire hydrants, it slows us down. When we’re fighting a fire, seconds count.” The GNY Red Cross and NYC Emergency Management are on scene to assist displaced residents. FDNY Fire Marshals are investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
