The raccoon was not shy, he figured as long as he was saved he might as well get in out of the rain.

Not to worry he was later found in Mexico living his best life. lol

I don't buy it for a second. No way that's not a pet raccoon. My family raised two abandoned baby raccoons when I was a kid and that raccoon is not wild. Either a reframed story of some people and their pet raccoon or it's AI.
