This is a major story about Uber that is not getting enough attention 👇 For quite some time, Uber has been well aware that they have a MASSIVE safety problem. A growing number of their drivers have been accused of (and convicted for) sexually assaulting passengers. Yet instead of actually addressing this issue and giving a damn about customer safety, they went on the offensive AGAINST VICTIMS. They actively targeted and “trashed” victims, looking to both silence them and stories about them — while simultaneously running a bunch of woke marketing bullshit claiming to care about women. One exec even said in a Slack message found during the lawsuit: “I trashed rape victims to USA Today…” Let that sink in. That’s who we’re dealing with here. Absolute scum. 🚨🚨🚨Tina Kotek Silent as Convicted Killers Walk Free in Oregon Thanks to SB 1008 In 2007, Douglas County teens Austin Clark (16) and Charley Carnes (17) brutally murdered a man. Clark bashed him in the head with an ax; Carnes slit his throat while he was still breathing. Carnes was convicted of murder in October 2009. Clark was convicted in early 2010. Periods are natural. Stigma is not. If a girl misses school because there are no sanitary pads, no water and no privacy, it is not her personal problem. It is our collective failure. We live in a country where alcohol and cigarettes are sold openly, but sanitary pads are still wrapped in newspaper as if they must be hidden. Somewhere along the way, society turned a biological fact into a social taboo. A matter of science has been turned into a matter of silence. Menstrual hygiene is not charity. It is not a favour. It is not a side issue. It is a matter of health, education and equality. Above all, it is a matter of dignity. Raised this issue in Parliament today because it affects over 35 crore women and girls in India. A nation cannot call itself truly progressive if millions of girls still face fear, shame and silence for something so basic. The real test of progress is simple. The day every girl in India can go to school, live with dignity and speak about this without stigma, that will be the day we can truly say our society has moved forward.

On February 18, 2024, I shared a message regarding the need for accountability, transparency, and true repentance from leaders, especially in the Church. The intention of my message was to share the critical need and call for greater levels of health, purity, and accountability for leaders. However, I realize now that I did not express compassion for, or address the need for the protection of all victims of abuse and sexual misconduct that I see in and out of the Church. This is and has always been my priority in these situations. My omission has hurt many in the Body who are processing hurt concerning the heartbreaking situations unfolding at IHOPKC and elsewhere. This is my mistake and I am deeply sorry. I ask for forgiveness for the people whom I have hurt with this omission. I would like to share my heart on this issue, which I failed to fully articulate in my message. I am deeply concerned and grieved by the situations unfolding amongst Christian leaders. I have advocated for morality and a high standard of integrity both before the Body of Christ and the Lord. In my attempt to clarify a need for spaces where leaders can bring their sin struggles before a community that will help them to get free, I overlooked the importance of communicating my heart for the victims. Let me be clear: it is never okay for leaders to groom or manipulate people. Clergy sexual misconduct must be brought into the light and dealt with appropriately. This is so that perpetrators can be held accountable and have the opportunity to genuinely repent and find healing for their sins and brokenness. UPDATE— Jake is still unable to make any phone calls but he was able to get an update to me today. 1. They are keeping him locked in solitary the entire time he is there. 2. ⁠he will not be allowed to make any calls while there and they have him completely silenced. 3. ⁠they are keeping the light on in his cell 24/7 and it’s impossible to get any sleep. 4. ⁠they are telling him he has no right to speak to an attorney or go to the law library, even with an upcoming hearing. I have already been documenting every call I’ve had with these psychopaths in the jail, and they know I have the recording of them ripping him out of his cell just for begging for food — so when I called to get all of this new info on record and an explanation for the treatment the lieutenant decided to now SILENCE ME and told the entire jail to no longer take my calls. UPDATE— Jake is still unable to make any phone calls but he was able to get an update to me today. 1. They are keeping him locked in solitary the entire time he is there. 2. ⁠he will not be allowed to make any calls while there and they have him completely silenced. 3. ⁠they are keeping the light on in his cell 24/7 and it’s impossible to get any sleep. 4. ⁠they are telling him he has no right to speak to an attorney or go to the law library, even with an upcoming hearing.
