According to an eye witness, the accident, which occurred around 7am near St Georges College, was caused by a speeding Honda Fit which swerved onto the oncoming lane and collided with a Toyota GD6. The driver of the Honda Fit died on the spot. Police are yet to confirm the accident.

Six people have been confirmed dead and seven others injured following a multi-vehicle head-on collision involving a Tahmeed passenger bus and two lorries on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. The tragic accident occurred at around 1 :50 a.m. near Kapiti Plains between the Machakos Junction and Kathumani Junction. According to police, a lorry heading toward Nairobi collided with another lorry, causing it to veer into the opposite lane and crash head-on into the oncoming bus. Both drivers and four bus passengers died at the scene. The injured survivors have been rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital
