Two patients got a poop transplant for C. diff… and suddenly started growing hair again. That unexpected result hooked Dr. Sabine Hazan. She saw alopecia areata disappear after fecal transplants from healthy donors — and in other cases, it appeared. So she started digging: is there a specific microbe... show more

Try bringing any of this sort of thing up with a garden variety MD and they look at you as though you're insane.

I can believe that & probably only applies to alopecia areata an auto immune disease that results in hair loss while most baldness in men is DHT related It does highlight how critical it is to keep the gut flourishing w/good bacteria by consuming fermented foods, fiber, & avoiding antibiotics I have read some great books on the subject & this author stands out

My colleague took his non verbal autistic son to Italy for just such a treatment...... He has made leaps and bounds since then and some words as well🔥..... Lots of potential here.

The body does not prioritize hair or skin when energy is depleted. Most people drink purified water instead of electrolyte rich water. My scalp used to be dry, itchy, and constantly flaking. That all changed once I started drinking only electrolyte-rich water. I am growing my hair out now, and it feels soft and full. Short hair was easier to manage back then because it showed less flaking. I love my hair these days. The rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis I once thought were incurable have completely disappeared. I was also losing leg hair on the back of my legs, and it too has started filling back in. The best change was that my daily nausea and headaches/migraines are gone as well. What if problems like these are caused by not getting the electrolyte minerals our bodies need.... the very minerals humans have been ingesting since the beginning of time? We stripped the water two hundred years ago to remove cholera... but did we go too far? Humans have been in mental decline and body/energy decline for the last 200 years. What if it all starts with not getting enough minerals?

I want to know how they even came up with the idea of a "poop transplant?"

Me wondering how a fecal transplant actually works:

Paracelsus reportedly was curing the plague through taking a pin head sized piece of excrement and rolling it up in a piece of bread. Maybe we all just need to eat a shit sandwich

Balding is due to gut dysbiosis. Could be mold, candida, parasites. I use the word parasites loosely. Comment on anything that is destroying the gut that should not be in there. Focus on your gut health and do a true parasite cleanse, and watch your hair come back stronger, healthier, and thicker.

A friend of mine, her little boy had this. No one in USA was able to do anything about it. She went back home (Romania) saw a dermatologist, tested positive for parasites, was treated, and got cured. It’s parasites

I’ve got many questions…. 1) How do you get over the taste? 2) Capsules?? 3) How do you know whose poop is best???

I seriously thought this was just a South Park episode.

I believe it. It seems like practically everything is downstream of the biome. the link between gut dysbiosis & mental health, not to mention whole body health, is undeniable in my experience. looking forward to mainstream science catching up.

My wife almost died from C-diff, but a fecal transplant saved her life. After trying everything else she was basically cured with an enema filled with a healthy person’s poop.

If we cure cancer with shit then I know we are in a simulation.

WHAT.

If transplants result in increased hair growth that is probably because they fix a nutrient malabsorption problem. They definitely fix C.diff infections and IBS. Other claims are dubious unless verified.

Makes me wonder about the Hindu. Many have a full head of thick hair into later life. Might it be from their steady fecal-laden diet ? Will "Eat shlt and live" be the new mantra ? Will watch from the sidelines on this one...

yupper; ASU arizona state university "cured" 21 infants of autism using fecal transplants

So a bald guy is basically a bad shit head?

We already know the microbiome controls everything. Doesn't seem like this should be THAT surprising.

"There's gotta be something more to poop, than just poop." Lol. As a bald guy, I hope she's correct.

The research on gut bacteria is still young. I think there will come a time when specific disorders are treated with specific strains of bacteria.

Your gut biome IS your immune system.

@theliverdoc I remember one of your notes where the same method was used to get the right kind of gut microbiome to heal the liver - do I remember correctly?

Interesting reading this I remembered the Burzynski clinic thing where he was treating cancer patients by injecting them with antineoplastons from the urine of people who were cancer free

I have alopecia universalis, and a terrible stomach that hasn't been right since I was two. I often have pondered a transplant since I read about them a decade ago.

More poop testing!! Medical students go into Gastrointestinal care.

They lost hair because they couldn’t get enough nutrients from food when everything shot through them from the diarrhea. They regrew hair because they transplant allowed for nutrient absorption. That’s basic stuff guys.

What a shitty post.

This is good news for my dog who just can’t resist tucking in to seconds.

My wife and I have been taking each others shit for years. It has to stop.

I won't take that kind of shit from anybody.

@grok given this post and other evidence based gut biome information, what are some top pre/probiotic supplements and food choices to power up the bacteria known to be more beneficial prior to pursuing FMT?

@grok is there a scientific paper documenting this? May you link a scientific study?
