This is the problem, no matter how much Waymo is pre mapping streets and does virtual simulations, real world scenarios can only be learned in the real world. what would humans do, they would both reverse a little and both would pull to separate sides of the road giving each other space to pass... you need brains to do that, Waymo has none

So curious how robotaxis will handle this exact situation. Can anyone who has 2 teslas with FSD replicate this exact scenario on a narrow alley? 😂🤷‍♂️

Basically dumb terminals. Had the opportunity to ride in one during a recent work trip in Scottsdale. My HW3 dramatically smoother and smarter. Waymo stuck in lanes going 10 to 15 mph under the speed limit. Confused at straightforward intersections. Was not impressed.

Even autonomous cars get awkward when it’s that tight… and it’s clearly not as smooth as a well-trained FSD.

I think their clearance distance setting is way too high. This car would fail to operate in most towns in Europe where streets are narrow like this.

Classic Waymo moment: All those pricey sensors & still can't pass each other. Meanwhile FSD casually reverses for tailgaters on mtn roads like nothing. Vision gang eating.

Waymo reminds me of Google Alphabet's other handicapped products. Alphabet doesn't just destroy it's own (previously great) products, they also buy good products like FitBit and then make them worse or spin-off projects into independent subsidiaries so that the resulting inadequacies aren't associated with the google name.

It looks like they're bringing remotely controlled from Bangkok 😅
