Months earlier, Israeli airstrikes had already killed Wael El-Dahdouh’s wife, children, and grandson, a targeted attack in attempt to have him stop reporting, which ultimately failed.

One day, the hostages, injured and surviving on only half a pita a day, were forced to walk for 12 hours inside the tunnels. Eitan was ready to give up, but the others wouldn’t let him. The strength and resilience the former hostages showed during their captivity is nothing short of miraculous.
