But over time, I began to question this approach and ask myself: Is there a way to create more favourable conditions to consistently generate goalscoring opportunities? That curiosity led me to study Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta — a coach and team that have had a significant influence on how I view the defending phase of the game. From there, I began implementing man-oriented high pressing as a core defensive principle with the teams I worked with. Starting with the U15s, the impact was immediate. Again, we hit another interesting note- ‘some women are too ambitious! If they would just ‘chill’ things would be okay.’ This statement threw up so many questions. Should a wife deliberately go for a low-paying job to avoid earning more than her husband? Should she also perform poorly to ensure she doesn’t get promoted? If she’s offered a raise, should she refuse? Of course, these things sound silly but these are actual options some couples have considered in their homes to preserve the peace. Sometimes, the man actually starts out earning more but calamity strikes and his business/career goes downhill. So the once ‘balanced’ household turns upside down because the woman now pulls most of the financial weight. The big question you should ask is this. ‘Why should money (something so many seem to be chasing) which should make life easier become the very thing that can cause unhappiness? There are 4 things I would like you to consider today- Changing times, Culture, Acceptance and Attitude. A) Changing Times: Men, the days when women in the workplace were oddities have since gone. With advancements in technology, many of the more physical jobs have been taken over by machines. This means that there’s no reason women should be sidelined on the grounds of being physically weaker than men. This coupled with the realization of a woman’s right to express her intelligence means the world has made much progress where women in the workplace are concerned. Today there is hardly any industry where you will not find women doing remarkable things. As a result, it is not uncommon for husbands & wives to earn similar salaries or have the wives even bringing more. The truth is that most men like the added household income- who wouldn’t? The only thing is that they just want to earn more than their wives. This clearly becomes an issue of self-esteem and ego. Please understand that you can’t derive your sense of self from money. Many men think being a man is all about bringing in money. It takes a lot more than that to be a real man. Different things make a man. They include the ability to provide, lead, protect, nurture and love. Men you have to bring more to the table than just money to be an exemplary head of your household. So stop being hung up on money alone. (B) Let’s go to Culture. In the past women were touted as the homemakers while men barely lifted a finger in their homes. What men didn’t understand is that being a homemaker is a very marketable skill! A good homemaker is likely to be very skilled in people and money management, multi-tasking, negotiation skills, etc. You’d think that keeping a woman in the house would incapacitate her in the business terrain but you’d be wrong! Women develop the soft skills required for top-tier management quite early in life! Coupled with formal education, a woman who truly wants to succeed in business is a force to reckon with. Perhaps we should take a look at how we raise our sons these days. We might just be doing them a disservice! (C) Let’s discuss Acceptance. As a man, I understand one’s ego can take a pounding if your wife earns more. Single men dating ladies that earn more often vow to themselves that they'll turn the financial tables around before they get married or shortly after. Like it or not, this doesn’t always happen. Sometimes a woman’s gift will shoot her to the peak of her profession. What will you do? Will you kill yourself trying to earn more? Will you resent her success or do the mature and supportive thing and accept it? I have come to know a certain truth. As much as it might be your preference, who earns more in your relationship is not your call. I will repeat this. It is not your call to determine who earns more in this life. Everyone has a race to run. God has blessed everyone with a unique gift. You cannot determine the extent of another person’s potential. If you can't cope with a successful lady you actually have a problem with self-esteem which is not her problem; it’s yours. Single guys, when you court a lady, look beyond her hips, lips and fingertips and determine her inner ‘horsepower’. Can you envision whom she is likely to be if all things work out for her good? Will you be intimidated by her success? There are ladies who are incredibly brilliant, driven and ambitious. You can tell they are loaded from the onset. Such people tend to have a light shine on them and often end up in the public eye doing great things. You shouldn’t marry someone like that and try to cap her … you will kill her spirit, kill the marriage or kill yourself. Remember that your wife also wants to die empty. Your responsibility as a husband is to give her wings to fly. Be a real man, a secure man. Manage your ego and support her. Now if this is difficult for you to stomach, please don’t marry her. In your house, everyone should be a cheerleader urging each one to victory. If you know you've the tendency to be jealous of people’s progress or be competitive, marry wisely. More importantly, deal with this weakness. It’s a bad one & reeks of emotional immaturity. (D) Finally- Attitude. Sometimes the husbands try to be supportive but the attitudes of the wives make it very hard. I have already addressed the men on attitude and the need to build their self-confidence and be supportive of their wives, but now I’ll speak to the wives. To the women: Do you lord the fact that you earn more over your husband? Do you seize the reins and make the big decisions? If you keep cutting down your husband because you earn more money, you pull down your home with your hands. Please don’t get it twisted. The man remains the head of the home. Don’t let money or your position at work get to your head. Pride is unattractive in anyone and that includes you. Cultivate a gentle, quiet and humble spirit. It’s important to note that money or wealth will always amplify who you really are. If you are compassionate and respectful you will continue to be so regardless of the money you make. If you are crass, rude and disloyal, money will make that more apparent and cause problems in the home. Remember that marriage is a partnership. Your success is really “our success”. His support helped you become successful. Even if he has not been supportive still carry your blessing with decorum and don’t disrespect him. Remember the blessing comes from God. A woman that sees God’s perspective when it comes to the marriage institution will not misbehave when blessed. God has chosen to bless your family through you. For the record, I am much more of a college basketball enthusiast than an NBA Draft expert. One thing that has stood out to me throughout this draft cycle, however, is how little Richie Saunders has been discussed relative to his production. Obviously, age, injury concerns, and a lack of elite physical tools have all limited his draft buzz. Those concerns are fair. Still, Saunders was nothing short of one of the most productive and efficient scorers in college basketball last season. Richie Saunders was one of only 10 Power Conference players last season to post a True Shooting Percentage of at least 63% while attempting 8.5 or more three-pointers per 40 minutes. Among that group, he ranked second in points per 40 minutes. Additionally, Saunders was one of only two players in that same group to also post a Free Throw Attempt Rate of at least 35%, highlighting not only his perimeter shooting ability but also his effectiveness at generating rim pressure. He also finished an impressive 67% of his attempts at the rim. The combination of high-volume shooting, elite efficiency, and consistent rim pressure provides a strong statistical foundation for his NBA projection. One thing that has stood out to me throughout this draft cycle, however, is how little Richie Saunders has been discussed relative to his production. Obviously, age, injury concerns, and a lack of elite physical tools have all limited his draft buzz. Those concerns are fair. Fast-forward to 2025: AI has greatly improved, however, the only AI that works well is AI in the virtual world behind the screen, e.g., LLMs such as ChatGPT. But LLMs are not good enough for AGI: no AGI without mastery of the real world! Future physical AIs won't learn like ChatGPT by downloading the web, no, they'll learn by creating self-invented experiments to improve their world models, like babies and scientists - see our artificial curiosity since 1990. Currently, however, the best robots are humans - a human hand is super-advanced technology, no man-made tech comes close. How long will it take to bridge this gap? My old timeline: over 13 billion years ago, the Big Bang; 13 million years ago, the first hominids; 13 thousand years ago, civilization starts. And now, within the next few years, another revolutionary period of only 13 years may begin, perhaps bringing more subjective change than the past 13 thousand years, or the past 13 million years, or the past 13 billion years. What will drive it? Not just self-replicating and self-improving software, no, self-improving hardware! AI-controlled general-purpose robots that can learn to operate all the machines and tools currently operated by humans will also be able to build/operate/repair the machines required to make more of those robots: the ultimate form of scaling - a new kind of life that can expand where biological life can't. We also talked about human augmentation and cyborgs, the tremendous commercial pressure towards "good AI," and AI for weaponry (no, we can't stop that). At the moment, the only ones who are making lots of money are those who combine hardware & AI in a way that's hard to replicate (Delvitech pitch). Nevertheless, AI is getting cheaper and cheaper, and there will be AI∀ (AI for all): all the trends are working in favor of the little guy, not in favor of the large software companies, who are becoming more like utilities, with enormous capex and greatly shrinking free cash flows. Today, 1 year later, with #MWC26 coming up, many others have started to worry about that, too :-)

“The highest instrument of the inner awakening of race is combat, and war is its highest expression.” These words, from Julius Evola’s “Metaphysics of War,” express the core of what I regard as his most essential and enduring work. Nowhere else does Evola so fully unite the metaphysical principles of Tradition with the ethos of the warrior and the political destiny of Europe and the West. This book is not the romanticizing of bloodshed for its own sake, nor the crude militarism of modern ideology. Krishna instructs him that those he must fight are already destined to fall, that his task is to fulfill his duty without attachment to personal feeling or outcome, and that in doing so he becomes the instrument of a higher will. This is the essence of karma yoga, the path of action in the ancient Indo-European tradition, wholly removed from the modern, commercialized idea of yoga as mere stretching or relaxation. In its original sense, it is the disciplined fulfillment of one’s duty as a means of overcoming the self. Evola stresses that the outer war cannot be won without first winning the inner one, and that the true warrior is defined above all by his mastery over himself. For Evola, a man who conquers himself may never take up arms and still be a warrior in the highest sense, while a man who fights without inner mastery may win battles yet fail as a man of Tradition. Physical combat remains, however, the supreme opportunity for transformation, because in the face of death all masks fall away and a man must stand wholly present in his being. It requires men who have stripped themselves of vanity, personal grievance, and dependence on material ease. These men must see reality without distortion, live simply but with conscious force, and be wholly committed to principles that outlast their own lives. Evola speaks of such men as those who “come from afar,” men whose presence carries the dignity, clarity, and detachment of a warrior aristocracy. This is why Evola could still affirm the potential of modern warfare, despite condemning its mechanized and impersonal nature, a view shared in part by Ernst Jünger and others. In traditional combat, the warrior met his adversary face to face, and the contest contained both honor and the possibility of transcendence. Modern war, conducted by machines and managed by bureaucracies, robs combat of much of this. The soldier, significantly the soldier rather than the warrior, becomes an anonymous function within an industrial process. Yet for the man rightly prepared, even the disasters of modern conflict can strip life to its essentials, burn away the false, and reveal the unshakable core of the self. In our own time, politics has degenerated into managed disputes within mass democracy, and war is often waged by remote technology rather than by men in direct contest. The decisive battlefield has shifted. The total war of the modern age is fought within the soul of every man who would preserve his dignity, his form, and his identity in a world bent on dissolution. The enemy is not only the system that denies higher values, but the corrosion of will, clarity, and discipline that such a system fosters. “Metaphysics of War” is therefore not merely a historical or philosophical study, but a summons to all still capable of rising above the detritus of this broken world.
