My goal is to use my social media platforms to document my country’s preparedness to host AFCON 2027, right up to the very last moment. Whenever I am able to access the facilities and infrastructure projects being developed to serve the tournament, and whenever I am able to raise the resources to facilitate myself, I will get there and bring you the updates. We are talking about stadiums, training facilities, hotels, roads, hospitals, airports, tourism sites and everything in between. I want to take you with me as we follow the progress, document the transformation and tell the story of how Uganda is preparing to welcome Africa for AFCON 2027. And where possible, if I get the opportunity to travel to our neighbouring co-host countries, you will see it all happen here. This is not just about the football matches. It is about documenting the infrastructure, people, places and opportunities that will shape this tournament and leave a lasting legacy beyond 2027. So help God! I remain yours truly, Erich Mboowa #ErichMboowaReports

We’re getting on with the job of building a liveable Kampala. Rehabilitation of the 2.3km Kinawataka Road is underway as we prepare to welcome AFCON Pamoja Uganda. The upgrade will be delivering a modern two-lane road, covered drains, and walkways. I commend the Government of Uganda for funding this vital investment. I also appreciate Minister for Kampala Hajjat Minsa Kabanda and Lord Mayor Ronald Nsubuga Balimwezo for joining us at the launch today in Nakawa. As we prepare for AFCON 2027, we’re improving infrastructure that will make Kampala safer, better connected and easier to move around for AFCON and beyond.

In the wee hours of the morning of 19th Jan 2026 in the chilly weather of Rabat, I kept turning in my bed accepting that; Despite achieving a multitude of historic milestones as the President of FUFA None of them makes me as emotional as realizing my childhood dream. The first AFCON I watched was 1992 and was supporting Senegal 🇸🇳 the hosts because of Jules Bocande (RIP). I then asked why was Uganda not in the competition and everyone laughed at me. I said one day we shall play while hosting that AFCON and the laughter was even louder. Uganda had missed 7 previous editions without any infrastructure to host I watched each yet helplessly Uganda fail to qualify for the next 7 editions (1994-2004). As part of the administration Uganda further painfully missed the next 5 editions (2006-2013) As FUFA President, Uganda missed the 1 edition (2015) and finally cracked the code for 2017. Now Uganda will be at 4 editions in 10 years in 2027 Now taking Uganda 🇺🇬 to AFCON after 40 years of failing is great but bringing AFCON to Uganda is not just historic but realizing a childhood dream by participating not observing Now we must not only qualify but compete at AFCON Thank you Government of Uganda Government of Kenya Tanzania Government Football Kenya Federation TFF TANZANIA FUFA CAF for believing in this project Welcome the World, Welcome Africa to East Africa in general and to our motherland Uganda in particular Karibuni Africa Masharik Pamoja ni uwezo Allah Akbar

Kenya is set to pay KSh 3.9 billion to CAF to host AFCON 2027. Hosting a major sporting event like AFCON is a dream for most countries, but my only concern is whether it actually makes financial sense. How much money will we really make from hosting it? More than 3.9 billion? I seriously doubt it. Even big football nations like Brazil still suffer economically years after hosting major events. They spent heavily on new stadiums and infrastructure for the 2014 World Cup, only for most of them to be abandoned afterwards. Qatar still has several top-class stadiums sitting unused after the 2022 World Cup. I have no problem with Kenya hosting AFCON , my only question is: does it make any financial sense?

So Algeria have threatened to withdraw from the race to host AFCON 2025 because of this innocent sentence from RFMF President Faouzi Lekjaa who was giving his cabinet colleagues a brief of the stadiums they will use incase they win the bid. Some things can be funny Algeria should stop panicking for no reason. Soka25east.com

This Conman needs USD100M to steal while Mulago national referral hospital needs only $10M to fully function. Uganda Cranes cannot host its Afcon qualifiers for lack of a stadium that meets the FIFA standards It’s only Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba who will clean up such mess.

We have come too far to let anger replace answers. Uganda has built roads, factories, schools, hospitals, airports, power lines, and markets that connect us to the world. These gains were not a gift. They are the result of patience, peace, discipline, and the resilience of ordinary Ugandans. Now is the time to protect what we have built. Not to tear it down. Protect the gains. Protect Uganda’s tomorrow. #ProtectTheGains #Uganda #FutureForward
