Rostec says it has confirmed its stated performance under real operational conditions, including during mass drone attacks. 🔸 Smarter use of ammunition: With a full anti-drone loadout, Pantsir-SMD can carry up to 48 miniature interceptors instead of 12 standard missiles. Mixing full-size and miniature missiles reduces the total below 48, but prepares the same system for both fast, high-value threats and mass raids by low-cost drones. 🔸 Combat record: Rostec says the Pantsir family has already destroyed drones, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and other airborne weapons. The flexible loadout is the central advantage. A single Pantsir position can prepare for raids in which cheap drones arrive alongside faster missiles instead of relying on one interceptor type for every target. 🚨🇮🇷 IRAN’S DRONE HUNTERS: A NIGHTMARE FOR U.S. AND ISRAELI UAVs Even under constant U.S. and Israeli airstrikes, Iran still intercepts enemy drones. The reason lies in a set of mobile, radar-silent air defense systems that are far harder to detect and destroy: 🔸 Missile 358 – a loitering anti-drone interceptor operating in autonomous “free hunt” mode. Flying at ~0.6 Mach with up to 100 km range and 8.5 km interception altitude, it can patrol airspace and engage targets like MQ-9 Reaper or Hermes-900 UAVs. Radio correction can improve accuracy but risks exposing the control node to enemy electronic surveillance. 🔸 AD-08 Majid – a mobile short-range air defense system using optical and thermal sensors instead of radar. Its IR-guided missiles reach ~2 Mach, with 8 km range and 6 km altitude, making the system difficult to detect for aircraft relying on radar warning receivers. 🔸 Repurposed R-73 / R-27T missiles – infrared air-to-air missiles adapted for ground launch from mobile platforms equipped with thermal sights. Similar improvised systems have previously downed UAVs and even aircraft — including a Saudi F-15S shot down by the Houthis in 2018. Unlike radar-based systems that can be quickly targeted by anti-radiation missiles, these mobile defenses are harder to detect and eliminate, allowing Iran to keep enemy UAV operations under constant pressure. For the first time, Ukraine 🇺🇦 is expanding mid-range strikes (with video feed) deep into Russian 🇷🇺 territory Dozens of strikes hit air-defense systems, radars and aircrafts in southern Russia. Strikes in 2026 against air-defense and radars damaged or destroyed more than 250 assets, including modern air-defense systems, jammers, and radars. Most of the fixed radars in Crimea have been hit, together with tens of air-defense systems in southern and eastern occupied Ukraine. With Starlink connexion, Ukrainian FP-2 drones (the main ones being used for these strikes) can reach anywhere in occupied Ukraine, but also in the black sea and in coastal areas of Russia. However, this is the first time we see video feed of strikes against airbases and air-defense systems in Russia, where Starlink cannot be used. There are few possibilities that could allow these strikes, with the use of a MESH system with repeater drones to keep connectivity or maybe something new. With precise strikes now targeting Voronezh, Rostov oblast and Krasnodar Kraï, Russia is now facing new difficulties. The destruction of multiple radars which guard the borders between occupied Ukraine (where Starlink can be used) and southern Russia can open new gaps for long range strikes targeting energy infrastructure and industry in southern Russia. For Ukraine, this may open the way to the targeting of Iskander and S-400 missile launchers close to the border in Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod oblast which are used to target Kyiv (Kyiv is barely within range).

The Telegram channel “Byt Ili” conducted a detailed analysis of the performance of Russian air defense during yesterday’s Ukrainian drone raid on Moscow. It was the first time that the operation of Russian air defense could be observed almost in real time. Key conclusions from the analysis: “Perhaps the most surprising thing for me in today’s strike on the Moscow oil refinery is the number of missed interceptions by Russian air defense systems against Ukrainian UAVs. In this compilation, I’ve specifically cut together the misses by ‘Pantsirs’. The selection is not complete. For the first time, we were able to observe in real time how Russian air defense operates during large-scale drone raids. And I have no rational explanation for why it performs THIS poorly. Yan Matveev described it most succinctly: ‘Air defense systems were deployed right in the city, missiles are flying chaotically in all directions and missing their targets; the threat from them is no less (and perhaps even greater) than from the drones themselves.’ But this still doesn’t answer the question: why is it like this? After all, these are UAVs flying at low speed — not cruise missiles, and certainly not ballistic ones. This can hardly even be described as a combined strike designed to overwhelm air defenses. The only fast-moving targets here were a few jet-powered UAVs like “Bars,” and there were very few of them. This is nowhere near the level of overload seen in Ukrainian air defenses during Russian combined missile strikes. And yet, even a strike of this scale creates chaos and confusion for Russian air defenses. It also leads to the conclusion that ‘Pantsir’ systems perform rather poorly against UAVs. Now it becomes clear why there is such a shortage of Pantsir missiles — because even slow Ukrainian drones sometimes cannot be shot down with two missiles. This is shown in videos 1 and 2 — two misses by a Pantsir against a single UAV, which ultimately hits its target. In video 3, a Pantsir misses the first UAV, misses the second, and only the third missile manages to shoot down the second UAV.” 1/
